I've never liked Jaguar, and most people I know don't like 'em either. I think they need to sell it off to another company, maybe someone else knows what to do with it. Maybe it can even become profitable.

Chris, the idiot is really you. Last time I checked the most prestigious British brand was Rolls Royce, and they are owned by, lets see…BMW, which last I check was German. How about Bentley? It’s owned by VW. Lotus? It’s owned by Proton, a Malaysian car company. Rover? It’s owned by a Chinese company. And oh, yes Jaguar: it’s owned by an American company…which is not controlled by England, thus how is that Imperialist?

You are a bunch of Idiots! Hand Jaguar over to a German company??!!?? And let them destroy one of the most prestigous marques in automotive history? Doesn't that remind you of the whole BMW-ROVER-MINI saga? Call me Imperialist but im proud of Jaguar and all of its achievements, even since 1989 when it was absorbed into the ford group. What planet do some of you live on???

Henry, why not make the XK cheaper and make that R Coupe concept the top of the line Jaguar? Make it go head to head against the rumored BMW Z8 and the MB SL. Then lengthen the S Type so that its obviously different from the shortened cheaper version. But don't sell it to Honda! The companies are too different to work it out. Honda only sells because its an econo car and form is disregarded to keep down costs. Its a car designed by engineers, not designers, and that's ok for a car meant to only take you from point a to point b. But a Jaguar without curves and shapes and all that makes us like the James Bond car?!?!?!

Hey Richard the way rover is now has nothing to do with Honda. Before they shared parts and things. Then the government took BMW over Honda cos they thought it would work out better. It didn't as you may know but Honda had already been fazed out by BMW.

Here is a good one. Stop putting generic Ford parts in the little places. Like the electronic trunk release.

Jags used to be fancy and mechanical, now they have the same opener as a Ford 500.

That Rover deal was Sterling motors. Basically an Acura Legend spoiled by Lucas electricals. But they were decent cars from a drivers perspective and IMO no worse than Peugot. A neighbor of mine had an 825 5-door hatchback that clocked somewhere around 250k miles before they took it with them to Florida. They may even still have it I don't know. I remember a couple of electrical hiccups that he had with it, but it was still a daily driver for his wife and they weticulously took care of the car.

Sorry to stray off topic. As far as Jag goes, Ford motors really needs to come to terms with their aquisitions. Between Volvo, LR, Aston, and Mazda, Ford is stretching themselves a bit thin and it may be time to admit defeat and cut Jag loose...

They need to start producing good looking cars, and then advertise. I hardly see anything about Jag anymore. There were some pictures of upcoming Jags in Automobile mag an issue or two ago and they looked amazing. But then again they are just pictures and not anything production.

Honda makes some of the best engines and transmitions on the planet. Jaguar can share platforms and transmitions to cost save while Honda will get the Luxury badge it so badly needs in all parts of the world. Acura could be integrated into Jaguar in the process to bring Jag up to date.

P.s. honda has worked well with the british before like when they made car for rover. Honda would have brought the company had it not been for the government.

Whoever was calling the shots at Jaguar shold have been dismissed long ago. While they did have some product sucesses like the 1995-2003 XJ and the 1996-2005 XK, the X and the S-type, both based on Ford automobiles did not do so well. Jaguar was too slow in updating the XK and the new one is nice, but a little too much like the old one. They never did a meaningful update of teh S-type either, which has hurt the company.

Their arrogance culminated when they tried to pass off a Ford Contour in kitty clothing (the X-type) and a boring long in the tooth redesigned XJ model which was top end limited to 121 mph in V8 form. They extended that policy to all of their vehicles, making someone pay 50-70K for a car that runs out of steam in a race with a Hyundai Accent. Jaguars are not hot rods, but it was ridiculous to cap them off at 120 mph.

My product suggestions:

1. Bag the X-type and replace it with a shortened S-type
2. Slide in a classy RWD sports car below teh XK.
3. Replace the XK with the Type R concept that they showed about 3 years ago.
4. Give the S-type a more authoratative look.
5. Bag the XJ entirely and replace it with a car with a similar stance to the BMW 750i. Add an optional V-12.

I agree with selling Jag to Honda. They have the money to make it happen.

Like they need someone from the outside to add: -2+-2.

Jag has been weak for years. ..Volvo lost 'it' to Subaru, etc. ..LR provides the 'Prince of Darkness' a place to live on... Aston seems to the the only light in the tunnel.

stuart, I don' think that would work well. I actually don't think Honda would know what to do with Jaguar, they're too Japanese to be in charge of a Brittish luxury marque. Of course, Ford is too American to do it as well... I think if Jaguar were to be sold, it would do best in the hands of a German company.
