Ford has announced that it will make its SYNC system standard equipment on all 2013 Fusion and Flex models. The automaker’s controversial MyFordTouch system, however, will remain available only on upper trim levels, with lower-zoot trims sticking with physical buttons.
“ Ford SYNC technology has led the industry in transforming the way we connect to our cars,†said Dave Mondragon, Ford general marketing manager. “SYNC has enabled Ford drivers to take advantage of the latest communication and entertainment technology with an easily upgradeable architecture that is friendly to use.â€
Though the SYNC system has been installed in over four million vehicles since its introduction in 2007, the ’13 Fusion and Flex will actually be the first blue oval-badged models to get the setup as standard equipment.
Ford expects nine million more SYNC-equipped vehicles to hit the road over the next three years.
