Under pressure to curtail losses at Jaguar , Ford may sell the historic Browns Lane plant, according to the Wall Street Journal and Reuters. The plant is located near Coventry, central England, home of the Jaguar brand since 1928. “The possible sale of Browns Lane is one of several options that is currently being studied,” spokesman Don Hume said. Under pressure to curtail chronic losses at Jaguar, Ford last year cut 1,150 Jaguar jobs in England, scaled back production at the Browns Lane plant and shifted output to another factory near Birmingham. On Monday, we reported that Bill Ford promised to make his company’s Premier Automotive Group, which includes Jaguar, profitable in 2006.
