BTW Fleming, you should wonder why the senior staffs at Chevron and Unocal are given the Camry as their standard operation vehicle instead of something from GM or Ford. Really, the only patriotic-up-to-the-point-of-idiocy oil company today is Total which is French, and thus Peugeot is still alive. Ha ha...

"Like I said, investigate, don't just buy the line. I presently own two '97 commercial vans, both with 400,000+ trouble free miles; a '99 truck with 200,000+ trouble free miles and a '99 car with 100,00+ trouble free miles, all American vehicles. How many do you have?"

Flemings, you don't want to get into that game with me. Let's see... out of the 1153 vehicles in my fleet right now which I personally own, the ratio of issues with Ford Escapes, Rangers, and Everests are 3 problems every 6 months as opposed to 1 for Toyota and Honda. And I've sold all the Chevy's and other American crap that won't hold in this weather. Regardless, personal experiences don't hold much compared to a real subjective study of the matter. You have failed to provide the evidence for such research since JD Power has recently changed their measurement value to something more emotional rather than hard facts (read about it in the older posts).

@ Ford: develop a series of good engines including a V12, and do the same thing with jaguar that mercedes has been doing the last 20 years.
it seems, among the big three, the only "solution" to problems is to sell or close companies.

If it’s so simple why don’t you post it? Why do you allude to the facts if they will so clearly make your point? And dude, no way you went 400,000 miles without some kind transmission work. No clutch will last that long. Seriously, save face and stop lying.

Neither have had any component replaced other than belts and hoses, one fuel pump and one set of alternator brushes. The C6 transmissions have never been touched. The engines have never been opened. We drive them all over our Nation on a weekly basis (trade shows) and both run as new. Once I thought I had tranny problems, but one $6.00 bottle of "friction modifier" did the trick and we've never looked back! Anyone should be able to find J.D. Power surveys by doing a simple search. In their most recent survey, Lexus was No. 1, Mercury No. 2 and Buick No 3. All I'm saying is don't buy the line, hook, line and sinker, investigate and find out what's really going on.

Since you were unable to show me a URL, I can only assume you are making it up and are getting your information out of thin air. I am investigating, I asked for a URL and you are just feeding me a line.

It is almost impossible to have any vehicle with 400,000 miles with out any problems, especially since no transmission or engine is going to last that long without having at least some of its components replaced.

Just about all surveys do not agree....American brands rank among the highest in the industry. Many are so brain washed they only believe what they have been told to believe, and do not investigate for themselves.

America cannot exist without a strong industrial base, the largest of which is the American Automotive industry. This is why we should all try our best to support American Industry. The future economic strength and stability of our Nation depends on us.

ummmm... first of all Gm had better not buy it, the best scenario I can think of is GRIM. Secondly if they DID buy it, I would think it would slot above the "luxury" (note I put that in quotes) brand called Cadillac.

Toyota will be one of the first to go out of business. GM is dominating and people like Veda are unwilling to accept that. Get out of the damn country with the rest of the traitors then Mr. Veda. Gm is taking over the landscape, like it or not

A non E mussssss, what the heck I'll bite your idiotic post this time:

"Why don't they sell it to GM? At least they can make it successful for once. "

First, they don't want it. Second, even if they do they can't afford to.

"I mean really, when has Jaguar ever been a respectable car? Their certainly no Cadillac, that's for sure."

Decades ago Jag was the British Caddy. I there should be some respect there.

"So maybe GM can make Jag into a entry lux brand while they move Buick up to compete with BMW,AUDI and Mercedes, or a slot just below Caddy."

Great and have Buick commit suicide doing that. Have you began to take your classes in college yet?

"I'm just saying that if Jag doesn't get help quick, they are going to end up just another victim of the American Revolution that is GM. Might as well put a gravestone up for Jag"

Yes, yes the great GM that's struggling for some profit to keep themselves alive. The only American Revolution you'll see is a fake one initiated by the Japanese in the form of Toyota gobbling up everything. Ha ha....

I know that Jaguar has a storied name/tradition but they also have a storied tradition of losing money and the fact that no large manufacturers are clamoring to pick it up is proof that there may not be a place for Jaguar in the landscape. Businesses and portions of it are allowed to go away. No one on here talks about selling the Mercury brand, they want to slash it... why not do that with Jaguar and then possibly resurrect in 5-10 yrs when they think they have a winning solution (it would be a shame to see the new XK have a short run I must admit).

Why wouldn't Ford simply put the brand to rest and not have to sell good cachet brands (LR and AM) that are doing well?

What we don't often see is a breakdown by brand or by product of P&L for the components of PAG. This could help determine if LR and AM are worth keeping (which I think they are) and not bundling just to rid themselves of Jaguar.

I said 60 or so years ago Bush because they had many notable racing cars and regular cars around that time and up until the 70's... but then they started to go down, especially when Ford bought them.
And 1952 MG TD, maybe it's because other car companies don't want the burden of a failing Jaguar on their sholders? :(
