Actually, that sort of ticks me off NoName, not to beat this dead horse. You put it out there that I don’t like the Mondeo? How do you see that from what I wrote?! I couldn’t have been more clear on how much I like the Mondeo, and DISlike the Fusion.

NoNameD, I must have mis-typed there, sorry about that. I was saying that I LIKE this design! I was poking fun at the Ford Fusion / Merc Milan, the ones with no styling what so ever, in my opinion. I guess I just reread my post and I don’t see where I mistyped, I said “excellent…” and “boring Fusion”.. Not sure what you’re referring to? 2012 Ford Mondeo = cool. 20anything Ford Fusion = boring, again, in my opinion.

Excellent work. This is what the zzzzzzzz.. boring Fusion should have been. Every time I see one of those I can NOT believe that they came out with a brand new car with that (non) design. Take a risk, good or bad, at least doing something wacky shows that you have passion instead of just not caring, like obviously they felt with the Fusion.

I would think since Ford has sold the majority of it’s luxury bulk, they can really take focus on Lincoln and the Ford brand as a whole. As most automotive press has suggested Mercury has no new product coming down the pipeline and FoMoCo has stated the “Lincoln will become a volume seller.”, they may well shift Mercury more refined interior trims to the Ford lineup. This would leave room to make Lincoln more upscale to take on the big boys (MB, BMW, Lexus, etc.), which it does need to truly stand apart from the general Ford lineup. If Ford played it’s cards right, when it’s time to remodel the Fusion bring this to the table in two hot trim levels (I-4T, 200hp and AWD V6, 300hp) and watch the masses flock in. Since the new Taurus will be the family sedan and flagship of the lineup, this would actually give Ford a lot of bragging rights, as well as bring in younger customers who are looking for sporty sedan that doesn’t look like something their parents would drive.

Its got a lot of Jag in it because Ford were pillaging styling cues from their premium brands to improve Ford’s own status. Its probably not a coincidence that the current generation Ford’s have stolen styling cues from Volvo, Aston and Jaguar just about the same time that Ford flogged those three brands.

DrFill, you are right, eventually the Mondeo and Fusion will merge to become different variations of the same car (similar to the Opel Vectra/upcoming Insignia and the Saturn Aura).

If Ford was smart………
This would have been the 2011 Taurus.
They should have rode out the 500 until this car was ready, then try to jump-start the Taurus brand again with this design.
Oh well.

I don’t get it, why does Ford not bring these type of cars to the U.S.? This vehicle would be able to compete more aggressively against other cars in the market and Ford would not have to lay off so many people.

With the exception of the front……….Badass your right, does look like a CL550…….the rest of the car can easily be a Mazda. This is only a rendering so……….who knows.

Badass got it right. The front looks a little “Jaguar-ish” too. Overall decent looking, but don’t hope too much. The bean counters will **** it up, demand cuts, and we will get the 2012 version of the 1999 Taurus. But with fender vents this time. yay.

Reminds me of the 2010 Ford Taurus pic that was floating around awhile back, but much better looking. If they are going to kill Mercury by 2012 as many have suggested. why would they bring over any Euro versions and re-badge them? Anyway, this is definitely hot car for a rendering but knowing Ford we won’t get anything like that stateside in any of their divisions.
