The debut of Ford’s Mustang-styled NASCAR race car is set for Friday night’s Subway Jalapeno 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the historic Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

The Mustang-styled racer takes the place of Ford’s Fusion race car. None of the NASCAR racers share much in common with their production counterparts aside from some basic styling elements – mostly composed of stickers on the race car. Still, automakers that compete in NASCAR racing do heavily market their efforts in conjunction with the public.

In an effort to further connect the race car to the production Mustang, Ford says that if one of its NASCAR drivers wins the Nationwide Series race, it will hand over the keys to a 2011 Ford Mustang GT coupe in victory lane after the race.
