Ford names new head of Global Performance Vehicles

Ford is working towards the goal of having the majority of its vehicles built on global platforms within the next few years, and it looks like that worldly mentality will spill over into the Blue Oval’s performance divisions. On Thursday Ford named Jost Capito as the head of its Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business Development.

In his new position, Capito – who has worked with Porsche and BMW and has also been an integral part of Ford’s WRC operations – will head up Ford’s SVT and European TeamRS operations. That means that Ford’s SVT and TeamRS divisions will be closer linked, increasing the possibility of shared products – such as the Focus RS that has been off limits to U.S. residents.

Capito will make the move from the UK to Dearborn in preparation to take the position in January 2009. Capito, 50, has been with Ford since 2001.

Madcapp,

Not the the GT… The GR-1!

Maybe a remake of the Escort Mk1 as well. http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/concept_cars/ford_benchmark_escort_mk-1.html

That for a RWD compact performer, and a line of AWD Focus for the AWD.

Sorry, unlike the rest of you, I have no confidence that Ford (a four letter word that beings with “F”) will give enthusiasts what they want.

+1 for Ford.

Why are they even in DC? Sounds like they’ll be able to do just fine even more than they had anticipated. This is going to save them tons of cash with the sharing of parts and products. Lets just hope that this doesn’t turn out to hurt worldwide SVT and TeamRS vehicles.

Just bring this over… the Focus RS would make so many people happy, hell the mondeo and the euro focus alone should be selling quite nicely once the economy picks up.
