Ford of Canada, based in Oakville, Ontario, has named David Mondragon as the company’s new president and CEO. Mondragon, who currently serves as Ford’s Southwestern U.S. Region general manager, will take the new position on September 1.
Mondragon, who has worked at Ford for 23 years, replaces Barry Engle, who announced last week that he would leave the company to take over as president and CEO of New Holland Agricultural Equipment S.p.A.
Canada has long been an important manufacturing and sales market for Ford. Many Ford vehicles, including the new Ford Flex, are produced in Canada.

My cousin works at the Oakville Assembly plant. I didn’t realize they built the Flex there. BTW, this is why I like LLN – industry news rather than random babble about cars they think are cool that they saw a few blocks over from their house.

Note to Mr. Mondragon: the electrical cord you see when you open the hood of your Canadian Ford product is not part of a secret plug-in hybrid testing program. Enjoy that first Canadian winter.

johnnycanuck, pretty funny. I can’t remember the last time I actually ordered the engine block heater option on a vehicle…and I do not want to remember.

Leaves Ford to go build farm equipment? Maybe they’ll put the new 3 bar grille on the 2009 model year backhoes.

Backhoes are construction equipment.
New Holland is owned by Fiat auto group who also owns Ferrari. Could be on his way up the food chain.
