Ford will launch an end-of-month sales blitz, offering zero percent financing for as many as 72 months to Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury buyers, including those with subprime credit ratings. The offer will begin Thursday, according to Automotive News, and end Labor Day. Nearly all 2006 vehicles — even those in high demand — will be included in the program. Ford plans to detail the program to dealers today. Insiders suggest the Ford GT and certain larger F-Series trucks will be the only products exempt from the offer.

Hmmm…perhaps it’s time to pick up a 4 cylinder Fusion. That would make an excellant DD.

It doesn’t have a catchy “Mr Opportunity” gimmick to it, but I think it will help reduce inventory.
Ford’s financial wing will take a huge hit within the next several years as the sub-prime’s default all over the map.

It does kindof sound like a “victory today at the cost of tomorrow” idea, while this instance in it of itself wouldn’t be that bad… but if that philosophy is more rampant than a one or two time deal… then that’s just bad news.

You can compare this to Honda’s 06′ inventory clearance all you want, but it isn’t nearly the “We can’t sell them, so were pratically giving them away” promo of 0% financing for 7 years that Ford is offering.
See for yourself:

Honda is clearing ‘06 inventory, Ford is in a panic sell.

Yeah, ’cause it worked SO well for Mitsubishi…..
A 72 Mo car loan is stupid, regardless of what interest rate you pay. A 72 MO loan on a quickly depreciating car is even more rediculous….
PRODUCT. Build and sell good product. Then buyers won’t mind paying interest on their new vehicle, and resale won’t be in the toilet….

Keep in mind Ima_Nutzack that just because you buy on a 72 month loan doesn’t mean you have to take 72 months to pay it off. At 0% interest over 72 months your monthly payment would be dirt cheap, even the most hard pressed of people with any sort of decent job could pay it off in say…4 years. Thats the length of the warrenty & isn’t too long to keep a car, even one that depreciates.

So what about 72 months thats too long….. its cheap to make payments. Sell in couple of years if u want. Get a hot looking Fusion or Milan or Zeypher or Mustang or whatever. Look cool for couple of years till the next hot vehicles from Ford. Easy as that.

^ ^ ^ you’re an idiot. Who says u have to keep it for 6 years?? Keep however long u want and then trade or sell it, moron! Go ahead and pay more on other cars. Its highly unlikely that Ford cars will break down unless u abuse it. Once the warranty runs out, sell or trade it. Its a no brainer!!

I have a Ford F 150, my first Ford and likely my last, even at zero percent. These folks that think the japanese cars are more expensive are living in the 80’s! I have been a Honda owner for 15 years, they make a good car/truck/van for a reasonable price and like someone said, I don’t mind paying for quality. We just got the F150 in the spring for towing our trailer, today I had all the rear brake components replaced, thankfully under warranty. New rotors, new pads, new calipers, new brackets, everything on the back end was replaced, the calipers had rusted so badly in 6 months that they wouldn’t move the full range of motion, so I guess I have been driving for a while with the back brakes partially on, no wonder fuel economy has been so bad. It’s an 05 with 20K on it. I really don’t think I will ever buy another Ford product, especially when you consider the price, here in the great white north this truck retails for 50K, a full 10K more than the Honda Ridgeline. The only thing the Ford has over the Ridgeline is towing capacity (thanks to the V8) and I needed it as my trailer is almost 7,000 Lbs. Otherwise the Ridgeline is a better truck by any measurement. The transmission has been acting funny the last few weeks as well. For a truck that costs 50K and Ford have been building them since my grenadfather was a boy, this stuff just shouldn’t be happening. To many folks at Ford, including Bill Ford, just don’t get it. It will be interesting to see which of the Detroit guys goes broke first. I think Chrysler will survive now that Daimler has a significant impact on the design and engineering, but the other two, GM and Ford are in for a very rough time. As others have said, build a reliable vehicle and you won’t have to give them away, Family Pricing and 0% for 6 years will kill the resale value. My truck was 50K+tax new and I can buy a 2 year old one anywhere for less than 25K+tax. That means on a trade you are getting approx. 40% after 24 months. My Honda Odyssey’s lease payout is 52% at 48 months. I really don’t think Ford will ever get it. I just can’t wait to bring this thing back and get something else. Maybe a Nissan or Toyota, either would be great for towing and have all the other benefits of a US Made, Japanese vehicle. Some people have to get over thet idea of imports as well. Just about everything is made here now, My Odyssey in Ontario, my Accord in Ohio, my previous Camry was made in Kentucky. There’s really no such thing as an import any more. Honda and Toyota, designed by American workers, built by American workers, built with parts from American suppliers…. sounds like an American car to me…..

Hypothetical, yet plausible,
Ford Motor Company may just be the firs American Auto Company to pull all manufacturing of vehicles out of the United States.
I can see this happening if Delphi gets the UAW contract thrown out (which is an almost certainty). Then the Delphi UAW workers will go on strike and production of GM vehicles will be idled because of no parts. What will GM do, go bankrupt. Then GM will get rid of the UAW the same way.
What do you think?

so let me get this straight….you are blaming your vehicle for your inability to unlock your emergency brake…is that right? if that is the case it is a wonder that the dealership would even warranty your vehicle….will agree with you that most vehicles are made here and that is sure better than what we are going to start to see with the stuff coming from china in 2 years or so….but have heard few things bad about the 150 you are driving, think it is an excellent truck-good luck.
renton-yah just get rid of the UAW? HOW? stupid comment-think before you type something so ignorant.
and all bloggers sorry to disappoint you but i went to college all on my own dime and don’t believe for a moment that you bought 8 cars on your own-especially if you have been leasing them…or is this your first lease and now you know it all?
