Put a 4 or 6 cylinder DIESEL into the bronco.. and carry it over to the F-150, and even the Ranger as well. Ford wants to get out of a hole? A diesel in all their SMALLER trucks (not just super duty) will help. Fuel economy is up, towing capacity is up, and Diesels are just plain badass on top of it. The first truck maker with a diesel in their smaller trucks is going to be the one on top.

Does nobody read the article?

Ford is not looking to revive the Bronco as it should be... they are looking to revive the bronco on the Festiva platform.

Gas guzzling 4 banger? Hardcore offroad strut front?

They only used styling from the gen 1 & 2 Bronco to slap another retro name out there.

I think if they really want to bring back the Bronco to fight the wrangler/FJ/H123 they could... just keep it true to the original: Removable hardtop/softtop, V8 power options, solid frame, solid axles.

Ford COULD have a real competitor in that segment... but you KNOW they won't do it.

very nice design. obviously wii not be as severe when in production. seems like something in between an element and an Xb. the best news in the auto industry is u.s. brands are finally coming up with more choices. the market has expanded enough that "niches" are worth creating / filling in. it used to be if you had a small budget you were pretty much gonna choose between boring small sedans. the caliber and hornet are great ideas and the chrysler retro wagon (can't remember the name) just needs to drop the retro cause it's spacious, functional and cheap. just make it modern and people under 70 will want it.

Bronco Concept is old and was said to have nitrous as standard...

Also Auto Express has billed the Ford Reflex the replacement for the Ford Puma, if it happens!

The Puma was hugely successful, even though it was priced ludicrously (esp racing version!) A cute car built on a Fiesta chassis with a mean look, it deserves a good successor.

Reflex iirc has 4 driven wheels not 2, but it has 2 engines, 1 for the front one for the rear... am i right? diesel and electric (with solar charge).

It's not just a replacement if it develops like the concept, it's a revolution.

As for the bronco? reminds me of short circuit's johnny 5... that, to me, is cool ;)

Hopefully Ford gets the radiator/cooling equipment right this time, especially if they're going to target the "extreme sports" (like rock crawling etc.) crowd.

The Echo looked like a car designed by Fisher Price. The Fit looks like someone thought it would be cool to make a car that looks like the car designed by Fisher Price without being a blatant rip off.

“Compact cars like the Toyota Echo have failed to attract target “Generation Yâ€? buyers because they lack aggressiveness and presence … tougher compact cars like … Honda Fit …”

Ummm, this former product planner for Ford is out to lunch. Maybe he can product plan my lunch for tomorrow. The Fit looks least aggressive and has far less presence than the Echo.

I believe Mr. Simpson's new Bronco will come along in a few years when we do the NeoRetro. This is closer to the classic style Bronco.

As far as trifling, and gas guzzling.... your TDI is ready at the VW store.

2nd Element? Just because it's square does not make it a rad extreme sports/surfer dude car.

I choose to actually live close to work to save gas. My longest trips are to designated off road trails.

we want cars that can go and look sexy. we dont want cars that look like toys, and advertisers tell us there tough. they have to have acutal stuff to back it up. i dont buy the so called "agressive" caliber, its crap. WHY CANT THE YOUTH HAVE A RWD SMALL CAR????????? it dosent have to have insane hp, at least 160 will be good. we dont want boxes like the element for our"extreme" sports gear. its time for the auto companys to hire people from the generation they are trying to sell to, not some 50 year old father, who thinks hes cool, and watches fast and the furious..

Make the Reflex less than 3000 lbs, rear wheel drive, and with the 2.3l inline 4 and a manual, and you'll have a buyer in me.
