Ford plant bans rival cars from parking lot

01/27/2006, 2:56 PM

By admin

The parking lot at Ford’s Dearborn Truck plant just got a little more exclusive, according to the Associated Press. The plant announced that, effective February 1st, parking lot may be used only by employees who drive vehicles built by Ford or one of its subsidiaries. The move came the same day Ford announced a restructuring plan under which it will cut up to 30,000 jobs and close 14 facilities by 2012. The Leftlane Perspective: Aston Martins are okay, but please, no Bentleys…

Man,

If the employees are driving competitors product, that pretty much sums up their view of the product they built. Upper management needs to get there foot out of their ass and built better and more appealing product to compete with other competitor. “Wake up” they know they had it coming.

All the people whining about Ford or GM’s work force reduction need to look in their driveways. If you are complaining about how it effects you, what have you done to effect the domestic manufacturers?

GM has the top 3 assembly plants in quality in America. Both Ford & GM build a quality products and their employees need to buy what they sell/build. Ever heard the saying dont poop where you eat?

they should do this at all GM, Ford, and DC plants. Make the bozos who give their money to the competition walk!

Looks like Ford returning to their Totalitarian roots. Back in the early 20th Century, Ford used to have agents visit employees’ homes to make sure their homes were normal. He touted the “Five-dollar day” wage, but denied it to those who were unmarried or had dirty homes. Immigrants were given the dirtiest, most difficult jobs.

Those are the ideas they come up with to save Ford? LOL! AS usual, the fish begins to reek from the head.

Would be kind of interesting to send a reporter with a camera on a field trip to check what model cars Ford’s C-level excecutives have sitting in their driveways – BMWs? Audis? Benzes? Porsches? Never!

I would make them fire me and sue the heck out of them. or they can Give me a ford to drive to work. This is just wrong. I strongly recomend ford reconsider. I seriously hope ford is using its resoureces to build me a better car than worrying about what cars the employees drive. Furthermore how better than to judge the competiotn than to go out in the parking lot and take a look.

Well I look at it like this, I have worked at two Australian Ford dealers, anyone driving past can see what the workers own, if you were to see a GM outside a Ford dealer doesn’t that say the person driving the GM does not believe the Ford product is as good, out of experience from working on or around them?
When it comes to sales choice some people are just sheep and buy what everyone else is driving, because it must be good if everyone else drives one :P

In Australia most sheep drive GMH, individuals drive Fords or other brands.
