Ford really did their homework with this one. It has all the right moves to go up against the Murano and the Highlander and should sell very well.

The only thing it now desperately needs right now is a capable Diesel engine IMHO, but I guess California’s stringent rules will decide whether this will be even possible at some point.

Hey guys, this vehicle is bigger than the Highlander in length and width and equal in height. So you’re getting more vehicle for just a bit more in the price (though I think you’ll see more base Edges than base Highlanders…a lot of Highlanders people bought at the dealership I worked at were well over 30 grand). Of course you can’t argue taste, but this vehicle is in my opinion much better looking than the Highlander, inside and out.

The Lincoln version, the Lincoln MKX, is a 2007 model. It beat the Edge into the showroom.

This thing really needs a value priced Edge around 20,000 rather than 26,000. This needs a base base version to even up with the Explorer they hope it will replace. A fleet Edge of sorts perhaps…

I have read in many publications that there will be a Chevy version of the Outlook/Enclave/Acadia as well….and there is a Lincoln version of this Edge planned too, which will compete with the Acadia / Enclave. My preference above all is the Acadia.

Bonquisha… You’ve been able to build them online for the last few months b/c Ford was doing research of interested buyers (you actively went to the site rather than them finding you) and could configure one. The interesting thing is that if you built the same exact vehicle multiple times, you got different prices. They followed up the config exercise with q’s on your demographics should you wish to give them and also whether you thought it was a fair/over/under price. They’ve done this for the MKX and the Expedition as well.

I think it will sell well and likely should have been available in March after the NAIAS splash in January so I hope the styling doesn’t come across stale (i.e., Thunderbird). The shape and segment are reminiscent of the Murano and Pacifica and the MKX goes directly up against the MDX and the RX330. I’d love to see a turbo diesel of a turbo V6 in the MKX from a performance persepctive.

It’s priced right where the Explorer is. About $5000 more than the Escape and about $5000 less than the Expedition. The pricing sounds right. It’s not like it has manual windows. I think this could be a hit. It’s less SUV-like than the Acadia – although not the wagon that is the Freestyle or Pacifica. It is definitely a direct shot at the Murano. My guess is that its driving dynamics will be better than GM’s new trio as well, although probably no better than the Nissan.

Looks cool. If I get one I’ll hold off a year and a half or two till after the gotta-haves overpay and the rebates come. Good power, decent mileage, nice looking, all around okay vehicle.

You can already specify and price one online at the ford website and you have been able to do that for months.

This is a very nice looking Ford, fully competitive with the Pacifica in every way. I personally will prefer the new GMC Acadia though. However, it’s still a job well done Ford Motor Co. !

I like it. Way to go “Forward” FORD!! I like the new GM ones that are coming a bit better for my needs (large family hauler), but this is a very nice looking ride. It should hit the Explorer sales HARD when buyers walk around the showrooms. I like how many manufacturers are doing this.

you guys are crazy. that is the best looking Ford (aside from the Mustang) that I can remember. This thing has SMASH HIT written all over it. The Lincoln too. It does seem a bit overpriced, but who knows. Muranos go out the door for like $40,000. Next to that, this thing is a phat bargain.

I think the freestyle is more of a pacifica sized vehicle. This is more stylish like the pacifica and probably not that much smaller though. I think this vehicle might be ever so slightly more SUVish than the pacifica too…maybe.
Base price seems high to me, but maybe that’s just me.
