Ford debuts 3 trucks at SEMA

10/31/2007, 5:30 PM

By Drew Johnson

Ford has taken the wraps off of three custom trucks at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Ford released images of one of the trucks earlier this month — the F-450 by DeBerti Designs — but only released sketches of the other two, making these the first images of the F-450 Super Duty by X-Treme Toyz and the F-350 Super Duty by Fabtech.

Ford F-450 Super Duty by X-Treme Toyz

The Ford F-450 Super Duty by X-Treme Toyz is designed to be the ultimate off-road truck. The F-450 has been lifted 10 inches and wears 40 inch tires mounted on 22 inch rims. Power comes from a 6.4-liter PowerStroke diesel, which gets a boost in power from a Banks Six Gun power tuner and AFE intake system. The interior features leather seats with a massaging feature for front seat occupants.

The Ford F-350 Super Duty by Fabtech is designed to combine off-road capability with on-road muscle. Like the F-450 Super Duty by X-Treme Toyz, the custom F-350 gets a 10 inch lift and 40 inch tires, but rides on 20 inch wheels. The truck also features a custom body with a unique paint job.

The Ford F-450 by DeBerti Designs was created to haul motorcycles and uses the Dallas Smith Corp.’s Axleless Lo-floor technology to aid in motorcycle loading/unloading. But to accommodate the low load height, the 6.4L Powerstroke turbo-diesel now powers the truck’s front wheels only. The interior of the F-450 promises plenty of room — thanks to an extra-extended cab — and is covered in Katzkin leather. The truck’s black paint is provided by PPG and is highlighted by purple accent stripes.

It seems to me a better solution would be a tailgate that folds in on itself a couple of times allowing for a longer but gentler incline.

I mean, talk about torque-steer.

the last F450 is sick…dont see too many slammed diesels. id buy one…if it wasnt a Ford. the low height for motorcycles and other stuff works great for me.

FORD will become the new INTERNATIONAL or MACK at this rate.

Granted SEMA is a tuner show but FORD doesn’t need this kind of encouragement. I want to see FORD field more and better cars!

Headache… (must be the exhaust fumes)

acura.el2000….we usually use C-notch’s on the frame to allow the axle to travel farther up within the frame….usually though the bed space is severely effected. from the looks of this, the axle is just permanently mounted damn close to the ground.

The F-450 is a bad joke. FWD and “full-sized anything” really should be a non-starter. The concept isn’t new though, VW has shipped them in the past to the us and do quite well now in Europe. Dodge showed us the Rampage concept. I think GM had one, but FORD never bothered…

I don’t think we’ll see either on sale in the US anytime soon… at least, I hope not.

Detroit’s problems started with making FWD cars… let’s not cede trucks by going the same lame route. It really was not part of Detroit’s automotive genetic pool and is still a bad mutation today, though better managed. My opinion, not fact.

However the slammed bed could be done with a hybrid. In-hub motors would drive the rear wheels. you might loss some of the bed width but it would work.Don’t worry about batteries, it would just be ruin from an engine operated 500-600Kw generator. This might need a very fast engine for a speed dependent generator. A mini-jet or a rotary-style engine comes to mind.

Just thinking in type again.

The slammed F-450 looks like it could use a leveling kit for the rear. But that could just be the design making it look like it’s lop-sided.

HAHAHAHA what trash! I hate these vehicles. Some people actually need them, and to those of you who own them and actually USE them, kudos. To those of you who buy super duty trucks because you’ve got a tiny ****, or a huge ego, or both, **** you.

Wow…sounds like someone needs to get laid, desperately. :-P

Anyway, I’d prefer an F-650 over this…much beefier and it’s actually a true off-road truck, unlike this lowered pick-up.

Honda will be “brining two custom Accords”? How long must they be left in the “brine” before they are fully cured? As long as Gouda or Gorgonzola?

Let’s take up a collection to buy LLN a spell check! I sppell reel gud!

“Axleless technology”????? ITS JUST A FWD TRUCK!? WTF IS THE POINT OF THE FOOT- WIDE TIRES IN THE REAR IF THEY ARE JUST ALONG FOR THE RIDE?

axleless technology is kinda is a interesting idea…i’d actually consider it for my truck…but since its 2wheel drive, i dont think that would work.
id rather just c-notch the frame and keep the 4×4…especially with a diesel.

You guys do realize these trucks are just to show off ideas, products, and innovations right? None of these trucks are actually going to make it into production, especially a FWD F450 with 650lb/tq, understeer is an understatemnet!

I think my IQ went down 10 points from reading these posts… There’s only going to be a handful of these things made. They won’t be on the market for each and every one of us to buy. They are specialty vehicles. That means that only a few dozen to a few hundred are made, if that many. There will be some retarded, rich city boy that will buy one to have the only one cruising Long Beach. That’s what these things are for. They don’t do real work.
