Although there is some hope that General Motors will someday reopen its Oshawa truck plant, anyone waiting for Ford to redevelop the site of a former car plant in Atlanta is out of luck. The Dearborn-based automaker announced on Thursday that it has sold the 122 acre plot of land that used to house its Mercury Sable/ Ford Taurus production facility.
Jacoby Development Inc. is the new owner of the site and will develop the site into a mix of office, retail, restaurant, hotel and airport parking space, according to Automotive News. The site is located near Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The plant opened in 1947 and began producing the Taurus/Sable twins in 1985. When the plant closed in 2006, it employed 1,950 workers and had produced over 7 million of the popular sedans.
