Ford may have been the only of the Detroit automakers to sidestep bankruptcy and avoid billions in government loans, but the Dearborn-based automaker announced on Thursday it will be shaking up its management ranks to bolster its North American turnaround.
The changes at the top will see Peter Daniel, senior vice president and controller, and Darryl Hazel, senior vice president and president, Ford Customer Service Division, retiring from the Blue Oval. Daniel, 62, has been with Ford for the last 38 years and well step down from his post on October 1st. Hazel, 62, will stay on with Ford through the end of the year. Hazel has spent the last 37 years of his career at Ford.
“We will miss Peter and Darryl but are very fortunate to have a deep and talented management team poised to continue our progress toward building an exciting and profitably growing Ford ,†Ford CEO Alan Mulally said of the retiring executives.
Bob Shanks will take over for Daniel. Shanks is currently vice president and controller of Ford’s America operations. Frederiek Toney will be taking over for Hazel.
Additionally, Ford has announced that Jim Farley will be taking over operational responsibilities for Canada, Mexico and South America. Farley will retain his current responsibilities as head of global marketing. Ken Czubay, vice president, will now lead U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service and Dave Schoch will fill the roll of controller of the Americas.
