You make me ashamed to be a Ford man. Yes, I love Ford, and yes, I love the Mustang. But just because of those facts I am not some Ford fanboy. Let's tone it down their, chief. The car is pretty good, true, but of course you can beat it, and of course the 'Vette is NOT vapor compared to the Shelby.

The is incredible, and it was pretty nasty when it ripped up VIR (and ripped it up 9 seconds quicker than the '10 model).

Facts confuse Road-AMS Blakkarr

He'd so ignorant...he doesn't even know what the Corvette has for a rear suspension...which invalidates all of his drivel.

Road_AMS...don't let the door hit your puny ass on the way out!

NE1410S, what are you thinking?
The 599XX isn't not even confirmed for production #1. It will be sold by invitation only and only if it makes it to production #2. It will cost North of $2,000,000.00 #3. How many GT 500s or even Corvettes is that? This car is a production race car (if it is released) not a street car #4.
You are implying that it is better than a mass production street car; good comparison!
You say you hate to make someone look stupid once again; look in the mirror!
For over $2,000,000.00 you can make any car very fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it! Ferarri thought in the early 60s that FORD was a nothing brand! Ford wanted to purchase them; they made a good offer, Ferarri scoffed at the idea. Ford built the GT 40 and waxed their posterior! This happened for several consecutive years! READ THE HISTORY BOOKS, IF YOU CAN'T READ WATCH THE HISTORIC VIDEOS!

Sorry Singh I did'nt mean to offend your race. I hope you'll forgive me.:) I have lots of Indian Friends that I work with and I am a little more careful to say such things I apologize.
But you should do your research on cars and their racing history a little better No?. Toyota has been a good car company but they are not the only ones making cars that last.

Aexcorp,

Wrong car. The CORVETTE has IRS. Has had it since it's the C2. Your are thinking of the Mustang.

Road-AMS,

You need to snap yourself out of the 1980s. Realize that every car that can hang with a Vette, with a "good interior", costs twice as much. More over, you really haven't been paying any attention to the Corvette to call it "long in the tooth". Since the C6's introduction in 2005 the car has undergone numerous refinements and improvements, those are most evident in the various models like the Z06, and ZR-1, but most recently in the Grand Sport (a car I frankly think should be the new base Corvette). "Long in the tooth" and it still kicks the ass of cars costing more.

Style-wise, the C6 hasn't changed much like just about every car does not change over their product lifespan. I'm not sure just what you are looking at when you say, looks bland. Compared to what? Most perfromance cars look bland as plain yogurt, because they hang on to the same design conventions they always have for 50 years. It's the "been there saw that" that plagues also every car out there. Yet that isn't a really a problem. It is their identity.

The ones that don't stick to a theme, usually Japanese, like RX-8, the GT-R35, and the LF-A, look so bad you have to force yourself to tolerate them until you stop caring. Which is why almost all Asian performance and sports cars are so awful looking and have been since the late 1990s.

I have to hand it to Ford they made an already garish vehicle even uglier. They did, however, manage to keep that tech of yesteryear. If I were in the market for a performance vehicle (which I am not) anything the "domestic" manufactureres have to offer (which includes GM and Dodge) would be by far the lowest on my list

I couldn't agree more. The GT500 is a beast, but the 599XX is....just....wow. I can't even explain what I feel when I see one. Possibly very light headed. Since, you know, all the blood is rushing to one spot.

You knock the GT500 for a cheap interior and bland appearances and compare it to a Vette? Get a job, man! PowerWheels have better interiors than a vette. Also, considering it hasn't changed since 2005, I'd say the vette was exponentially more bland and long in the tooth I might add. If you're going to be a GM fanboy, at least do a decent job at it.

God this car is mediocre. Cheap interior, Camry-bland exterior, completely wrong rear suspension, and overpriced...although...for the same price as a limp-wristed Taurus...you could have a proper V8 (even though it's a boat anchor), RWD (even though it has ox cart suspension) car.

Or just buy a used Corvette and walk all over it.

When will Ford wake up?

Car and Driver pegged the weight at 3,751... picking nits I know, but considering how much of a beast this thing is and is priced in the $50s not in the $250s and has 4 seats that's not bad.

As much as I love this car however, I don't think I'd buy one. My '02 GT still keeps me plenty entertained and I'm sure the '11GT is an absolute howl. How much is too much?

I think Zingo's analogy is not necessarily defining masculinity through the car one drives, but rather defining what testosterone would look like if it were made of metal. However, I think testosterone would actually look like a boob.

Well, there you go. That 100 pounds sure makes a difference. All the more reason for Ford to put this on a diet...

Actually, the Mercedes is probably more aerodynamic than the GT500. If the Mercedes had the same 550hp engine as the Mustang, it would probably get even better highway mileage.

Defining masculinity through a car is chidish, that being said this is a very impressive looking machine and the first non classic Mustang that have moved me in some manner.

To the kids in the pissing contest regarding Ferraris to Fords to Le Mans cars; turn six will you? Different automobiles and their independent attraction are subjective, and always will be.

It amazes me how a 3820 pound, 550 hp Mustang can get 23 highway. In comparison, a Mercedes-Benz GLK that has 268 hp and weighs 3979 lbs gets 22 highway.

Nah. I disagree. I believe real men drive whatever the hell they want to drive, regardless of the image it portrays to others. Real men don't give a damn about what others think.
