It’s finally official: Ken Block will be changing out his Subaru blue oval for a shiny new Ford blue oval for 2010. Ford Motor Company announced today that it has teamed up with Ken Block for several global motorsports opportunities.

Leftlane first reported the possibility of this partnership in October of 2009, but now Ford has made it official. Ken Block will be driving a Ford Focus for the 2010 FIA World Rally Championship and a new S2000 Ford Fiesta for Rally America and the X Games.

“I am stoked to be rallying in a Ford. They are an impressive force in the sport,” said Block. “From the days of the 1970s Escorts to the Group B RS200 to the modern-day Focus and now the Fiesta, Ford just does an excellent job at rally and I couldn’t be happier to now be part of this amazing heritage. Not to mention my dad would be proud. He was a dedicated Ford guy.”

Block’s rise to fame came mostly behind the wheel of his Subaru rally cars while doing cross-promotional stunt videos known as “Gymkhana.” Block honed his skills and shared them, (along with heavy plugging for his sponsors Monster and DC Shoes) with the rest of the world on YouTube in what became a wildly popular series of stunt videos – garning over 10 million views to date. Some criticized Block of lacking real rally driving experience, but with this news Block will have the opportunity to prove himself on the World Rally Championship stage.
