I have been reading reviews about the new SHO, unfortunately there is no feel to the steering so you can tell where the care is, just like all American cars. All the Eurpoean cars have better steering and you can control the care better. So much for competing with the world. Why don't you just roll over and play dead Ford, you treat the American car buyer with contempt. Maybe someday your cars will compete with Europe, I guess whenever you decide. This SHO costs as much as an Audi S6, are you KIDDING!!! This car is underdone and over priced.

Bankruptcy, i'll admit that ford was a very respectable company until they got into nascar and decided to
appeal to hillbilies and rednecks more than the people who had trusted, cared for, and helped the company
through the depression, and all the tough times since. But if you look, ford has not competed in a form of motor racing that actually has anything to do with their real cars since 1970. And such, has lost all my respect. The drag cars ford sponsors are handbuilt, so are the dirt trucks, they just have a ford badge and nothing else to do with ford, and NASCAR, really? That bunch of hillbilly baloney and gay prick soap opera is nothing short of ridiculous. It has nothing to do with individual companies *toyota can sometimes win* and exists so drunk fat a$$es have somthing to watch between football comercials. No actual good can come out of nascar, it is just advertising, le mans, on the otherhand helped to develop audi/vw's tdi technology, which can achieve <40 mpg. American car companies enter nascar for advertising when they want to attract rednecks into buying their midsize saloons. End of Story

LLN: Anyone who doesn't know how to pronounce SHO should ignore this article and probably should not drive.

" ...able to blow off many imports and domestics without even breaking sweat. " I'm from the less-is-more school of writing. Rather than "imports and domestics," try "competitors."

I also like the manual mode.

I don't know where this list of competitors came from. G8, Yes. "TL," yes. But not the 300C or the CTS.

ricky_b: In my opinion, the best sedan ever produced by an American car company is the new CTS.

Bankruptcy2009: "Reed fast I think you’ll find this thing will run Run Circles around your Audi R8." You should proof that.

reedfast: calling something FWD an Impala ... somebody needs to go to jail for that.

Johnnyc: "And Ford, please do not put this engine into the Mustang." Hear, hear!

tripleonefive: "This is what Ford should have had out 4-5 years ago." You're right.

l.sanchez: "It doesn’t drive like such a big car." you're right.

Bankruptcy, no it will not, the audi has 0-60 times of about 4.2 s, in the 80's! With todays tech, they could make a much faster car. Also, audi stopped rallying when a FORD ran off the rally road, killing 9 people, causing the regulations to change, and making the audi pointless. Audi then Decided to quit rallying and start competing in the LMS and ALMS, which they have dominated for the last three Generations of automobiles.
Ford no longer participates.

Oh Your wrong the Hennessey SHO does exist go to Hennessey Website . It not a figment of your imagination. Sure its not a Rally Car I'll leave that to the The Focus RS World Rally Car, which powered Ford to the manufacturers' world title in both 2006 and 2007, sports a striking modern livery that took centre stage today at Europe's largest annual motorsport exhibition. It was also announced that the squad will be named the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team for 2008. So there for the Last 3 Years we don't even know who AUDI IS. But they should know Ford Motor Company's FORD FOCUS RS WRC Real well getting their Arse's handed to them 3 times in the last count em 3 years!

I bet with todays tech, audi could make a car to whoop any poser ugly japanese rally car.
@bankruptcy
you just cant wrap your small head around it can you, there are plenty of things capable of beating the nonexistent Hennessy SHO, audi R8 included.
tell me how much the Hennessy SHO will cost and i promise you there are plenty of things faster in the price range that i can find

@Bankruptcy
The rally spec sport 100 has up to 550 hp (road legal version) and real 4wd,
The sport 100 dominated the all the rally championships before the impreza was
even concieved(and was aborted in the third trimester)
so the SHO could definitely not beat it in anything except trunk space

@PearlJam
Judging by all of the other cars in the ford lineup, which this
should not be too different from, id say that the leather and plastics are better.
It looks okay, but as i said before it should be lower, have a better
rear end, and have some big side sills.

@ reedfast

I can understand that Ford would add more options to make more money EVERY automaker does the same thing. How else are they to make extra money. Audi does it!

And have you even sat in the vehicle yet? How can you tell if the leather better or not? What about the quality of the plastics. So until you drive one, keep your opinions to thing you can actually confirm about the Taurus.

But admit it, it looks good and is going to fly. Once the PCM tweaks come out, LOOK OUT!

Bankruptcy,
You need to lay off the LSD man, sure, hennesy might get their hands on the SHO,
but they already did the R8, and gave it *wait for it* 1000 HP and a body kit dumb a$$.
You cant brag about aftermarket stuff unless the other car is aftermarket also.

@PearlJamFan:
I was talking about the quality of the leather, and the bolstering on the seats.
Half that stuff did not exist in the 90's.
It did have:
Heated seats
Climate control
The rest of the stuff are things that ford invented so that they could make more $$$
and most of it is incredibly annoying, i dont want my car beeping at me and listening to what
i say.
But i do wish it had direct injection.

I think its an amazing car, and it is totally world class. For the price you get one of the most technoligically advanced vehicles on the road, that can haul the kids and the groceries, blow a mustangs doors off, and look great while doing it and not be tooo noticiable.

I have owned 5 previous Taurus SHO's and Ford contacted me to give my input on what a "new" Taurus SHO should be like and what I would like to see in it. They talked to many other enthusiats along with myself, and Ford seemed to listen. I was amazing at how great they were, and how they wanted to know how we all felt. I really hope this sells!

And then again Why would'nt you lol. More Fun. I like the Chrome GRILL even if its Fake it looks good.
Beside Wetbehindtheears The Cars Skirt is nicely finished with a Matte Black. I don't want to see redundancy on the grill as well.

Why would anyone want a Hennessey SHO? And while this is a major improvement over the 500, it still looks to boy racer for me. Take off all the chrome pieces and make them matte black.

Greg the Taurus SHO will be faster than the G8 GXP Without a doubt you can bank on it!. You can count on it. Look for 0-60 in the 4.5 to 4.6 range. Its an AWD Supercar or Supersedan, and it will leave the G8 gasping for breath.
The 365 HP Trumps the G8's GXP's 415HP through the Taurus SHO's AWD Haldex Gearbox. There is NO Contest!

JohnnyCanuck @ 06/23, 3:26 PM

There is also the need to really teach the abilities of this MUSTANG's SLA. It really is impressive just how capable it is. Makes for a great drift car, but does need a bit more finesse for street racing. Frankly, though I want IRS in the next MUSTANG. It's long overdue.

The engines? Who said the Coyote had to cost more. Just ask more for it. If you offer a hot TT V6 and make a hotter V8 with more and better equipment, then you can ask notably more for it. Besides I'm willing to bet that, by economy of scale, those TT V6s actually cost the same or less than the Coyote 5.0.

As for the feel. You may only notice when you press pedal. The old 305 pulled like a freight train even with "only" 215hp stock. Frankly a properly tuned V6 will feel like a V8 from idle to red line. FORD doesn't really do anything they do halfway (though I wish they would option to do more). You really will not notice much of a difference between the V6 and the V8... The Turbos may skew that as would a Supercharger on a V8.

As for the feel. You may only notice when you press pedal. The old 305 pulled like a freight train even with “only” 215hp stock. Frankly a properly tuned V6 will feel like a V8 from idle to red line. FORD doesn’t really do anything they do halfway (though I wish they would option to do more). You really will not notice much of a difference between the V6 and the V8… The Turbos may skew that as would a Supercharger on a V8.

" I'd also say that a top of the line ford is about equivalent to a 90s audi in terms of luxury components."

Can you name (1) thing that a 90's Audi had that this Taurus doesn't?

Wait, did the Audi have SYNC? No
Did it have it a Direct Injection engine? No
Did it have Adaptive cruise control? No
Did it have BLIS? No
Did it have CrossTraffic Alert? No
Did it have ActiveMotion seats? No
Did it have Climate controlled seats? No
Did it have the best Navigation system on the market? No
Did it have Dual Zone temp control? No

Those are what some would consider "luxury" components. There are other things I can't even think of right now that the Audi never had.

well, while the standard 08 s4 may be 50k+, the audi dealership in my town has decided to
quit advertising and lower the prices on the most expensive cars. Couple months ago i saw an 08 s4
fully equipped for 40k, an rs4 for 55K, and an r8 for 100k. So, while the SHO may be a better deal at first
you can look hard enough and find some better cars in the price range.

Why is anyone comparing this to S4?? Wrong price class, wrong size class, etc. The price of the SHO will undercut an S4 by several thousand dollars.

Also, the SHO has always been a "Q" car...undercover, wolf in sheeps clothing type thing. It shouldn't have stuff to make it stand out too much from the rest of the lineup.

I have also driven and 2010 SHO and agree that I think many of you are selling the ride and handling of the car very short. It doesn't drive like such a big car. Thats a good thing. Sure I wish they'd throw this motor in the Fusion, but oh well...But for someone looking for a good, comfortable, solid, safe, quick and powerful full size sedan, it really doesn't get better than this until you step into an M5 or something of that kin. So, 40k seems a steal compared too.

And for those that think that there are other cars in that price range? What? A loaded Avalon (luxo barge)? G8 is dead. Dont' say BMW 3 series, too small, and once you option them out, they are way over $40k. So I see this as a performance/luxury value especially with all the tech you get in the car. Acura TL?? Not really, not enough power and looks like a transformer.

Everyone likes to point out the faults...I'm seeing all the good.
