SEMA 2009: Funkmaster Flex lends hand to Ford Taurus SHO

11/03/2009, 2:27 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Ford’s Taurus SHO may have just arrived in dealers recently, but that’s not stopping rapper Funkmaster Flex from adding his unique style to the high-performance Ford four-door.

Though not designed for production, unlike the slow-selling Funkmaster Flex Expedition released a few years ago, the concept was shown today at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Designed to embrace the “sleeper” look of the standard Taurus SHO in a slightly more expressive way, the concept features two-tone black and gray paint, 22-inch alloy wheels, Pirelli tires and custom billet door handles. It was also lowered using an HR spring kit and the look is set off by a subtle billet grille.

A custom rear window wing and a unique front spoiler help finish out the look outside. On the interior, Funkmaster Flex’s signature FMF logo was added to the headrests and a black suede headliner took the place of the stock unit.

The concept was not mechanically modified over the standard Taurus SHO.

Ui, que feo.

“slow-selling Funkmaster Flex Expedition” should have been a major red flag right there.

If they are going to insist on put 22’s on the car at least upgrade the brakes to fill the space! It would look better, and be an actual “performance” modification…

Not enough funk if you ask me. They need to head over to the Subaru display for ideas.

Wow… what an incredibly stupid way to ruin a perfectly good SHO.

I think the car is looking even more confused. Tossing up between looking like a tough aggressive monster, or a more restrained look.

The bonnet say aggression

The body side says restraint

I wrote more at http://bit.ly/1ab1vE on the Taurus, with sketches showing the lines that ’slow’ the design down and what they could have done to make it look more dynamic.

I’d drive it, wouldn’t be complete without blacked out windows and upgraded exhaust and intake, but kudos for being original and not looking like every other sedan on the road
