Ford is planning to accelerate its massive job cutting efforts by four years, according to insiders cited by Bloomberg News. Ford aims to eliminate 30,000 jobs by 2008 instead of 2012 as announced in January, the sources said. “It makes a lot of sense,” said Dennis Virag, president of Automotive Consulting Group Inc. in Ann Arbor, Mich. “They know they need to cut back. It’s better to get it done sooner.” A Ford spokesman, Oscar Suris, said the Dearborn, Mich.-based company doesn’t comment “on speculation about our plans.”

Let’s hope Ford can make good out of this and return to profitability soon.

It’s either some or all. Tough decisions but you can’t sacrifice everyone for the sake of equality. A company has to survive afterall. I hope they survive and better their products. The more competition the better for us all.

I think now I know why Ford maybe going down. Apart from the boring cars, their car dealers also a problem….Inconsistency. Some of their dealer try very hard to rip off their customers. Take a 2007 top of the line F-150 with all options for example. The price can have $3000.00 in difference. The Highest quote is around $38000 after rebate. The lowest I got is $35000 after rebate. I was like…What the #%?! I didn’t know that F-150 is so much over priced!!!! The quotes that obtained are those dealers whom are within 20 miles range from my Zip.
It make me think if cars from Ford is worth to buy.

Yeah we can always rely on the domestic manufacturers to cut jobs of Americans. Good thing we can also rely on the Japanese manufacturers to build more facilities here and in effect employ more Americans. This is another reason why domestic autos are sucking/suck.

Elviososa, all dealerships are out to make the most profit as possible even with questionable “efforts”, believe me I own 2. The only time you’ll see them begging you is when they’re not selling.

I have often wondered whether or how much dealer experience and satisfaction influences customer choice and loyalty. Is there anywhere I can get figures on that Veda?
