Which would be the most efficient way of operating? running 4 shifts with 2 plants, or running 3 shifts with 1 plant. I know that they plan to add another shift at DTP which would make it an 5 shift plan. But is the demand really there considering the latest market condition.

Let me detail my last comment, when i said "1 truck out 3 trucks that are on hand will be sold," I meant to say 1,Ford F-250, 1,Chevy 2500, 1 Dodge 2500, 3 to 1 of the same configuration, and the "we are 1 to 1 in some brands," on some brands well it's just that.

And the Toy"s well,... the Tundra's just don't get respect from our customer, a lot of contractors, utility company's, and small business owner, they see it as some that just can't hang, they fill that it's not a work truck, and thesis are not people that buy a hand full of trucks at a time, and do really good at what they do.

And yes most of our customers get the same brand truck for them self's, a fully loaded Ford or Chevy, it's easy for them to get them service and they just add it to there fleet, but it's there own truck. Not to say that they don't have a Bemmer or Benz at home, maybe they do, or there wifes or girlfriends might, I don't know, but I do know that 7 out of 10 of our customer do get the nice truck for them self's, and that's the numbers we get nation wide form our auto group...

Not hating the Tundra, but national number from one of the biggest auto groups...
(it's agents my company policy for me to post there name where ever my personal opinion can be posted)

"Roger" might get up set...
                                                                                                                                  hint

webent, scootness- Thanks for clearing that up, let me just rephrase that. "stock them up in inventory". But I don't see the Big Three limiting production much either. When somethings a hit, they make as many as possible, and that ends up flooding the used car market later on. Sure, that's only part of it, my point is The Big Three haven't seemed content with just producing enough, or slightly under demand.

We are not forced to take inventory at our Ford dealership either. We get what we order and nothing else. Add another shift to the plant! It is a great truck and is far and away the class leader. In fact, the 09 F-150 is the best overall truck on the road! Ironically, the second best truck on the road...
the 08 F-150!!! And thats a fact, Jack!

Jayjc08, I think you have a mis conception of the dealer/manufacturer relationship especially when it comes to Ford. We are not obligated to take anything we don't want although preasures can be applied. It is pretty much up to the dealer as to how many F150's he wants. GM and Chrysler are far harder when it comes to inventory. We are content with the current situation with Ford and not so much with other brands in our group. We are moving F150's and have asked for more.

1115 is still trying to figure out why no one wants the hideous new TL and TSX.

The new F150 is awesome. Great truck. My boss is upgrading his Tacoma and was going to get a Tunndra. I mentioned he should maybe wait for the new F150. He saw the Ford and forgot about the Tundra entirely. Great job Ford!

A choice between a less effective poison doesn't make me any more eager to take it. Ford seems intent to choose one poison or another- stock them up on dealer lots, or limit profits through their sales. Personally, I would limit sales. Resale goes up, reliability goes up and costs/warrants after the vehicle is sold go down.

The main reason is for the Commercial sector, at our auto group we are short in inventory, even that sells are slow, still our ratio to for sells to on hand is way off, 1 truck out 3 trucks that are on hand will be sold, we are 1 to 1 in some brands, Ford and Chevy is where we are short, Dodge, so-so, and the manager that came up with the bright idea to start selling Toyota commercial trucks, just got laid-off... They just don't move...

Great job Ford! The new F-150 is amazing! I am glad that Ford doesn't read from the same magazine that "tripleonefive" reads from! Ford builds class leading vehicles and will continue to do so for a long time!

dont go overstocking your dealers... itll be the same mistake you made the last hundred times
cars need to go back to being predominantly ordered with ONE of each trim level on the lot. and theyll show up in 6 weeks when the factory churns it out.
