Ford to give hybrids unique look

05/17/2006, 10:16 AM

By admin

Ford plans to give the next-generation Escape Hybrid different styling from the regular gas-powered version, says Ford’s Nancy Gioiam, who heads Ford’s hybrid vehicle program. Gioiam said hybrid drivers want to make a statement that they’re driving a hybrid. Earlier this month, we reported that Toyota was considering hybrid-specific designs to help differentiate the cars.

How about a sticker that says “I should be driving a diesel”…?

I think “Asshole on Board” stickers would suffice.

That whole uppity attitude that you get from most hybrid drivers is disgusting. I’m a valet, and whenever we get one, they always say something like “you know this is a hybrid, right, and the ready light comes on when you turn the key, you won’t hear anything.” And they say it in that tone that says “I’m better than you because I spent extra, look at me, look at me, LOOK AT ME!”

I think “Asshole on Board stickers would be good for large SUV drivers also.

I agree with #3, “Asshole on Board” totally describes most of the “bling bling” SUV drivers… In other words, “I don’t care what effect my grossly wasteful suburban assault vehicle has on the earth, but just look what I can afford!!”

I agree with Patrick. And I don’t own a hybrid or an SUV. People complain when gas gets so high then companies come out with ways to solve them and people make fun of those who buy into those ways. Oxymoronic if you ask me.
