Ford to keep Freestyle, can Mercury crossover

02/09/2006, 10:21 AM

By admin

Ford will not discontinue its Freestyle crossover, despite predictions from analysts that it would in mid-2007, reports Crain’s Chicago Business. Ford has, however, cancelled plans for a Mercury version of the vehicle, Anne Stevens, Ford’s chief operating officer said yesterday. The announcements are part of Ford’s “Way Forward” plan, announced last month. Ford had been expected to kill the Freestyle following the introduction of the 2007 Ford Edge crossover.

“Ford WAS been expected to kill”

With better styling it could still work. Don’t give up yet your gonna need something to sell to off-set the Navigators poor sales.

First things first give it the new 3.5 V6 and freeze the price where it is.

This is good news, they also need to give the freestyle a bolder look.

It may not end yet, but with the introduction of the Fairlane there will be no need for two six passenger pseudo crossovers. Mark my words. There will be no 2008 Freestyle.

I’m glad Ford is sticking with the Freestyle. I bought the car for safety – period, but love its other features, too. If Ford wasn’t selling the Freestyle (based on Volvo’s large-car platform), I would’ve gone elsewhere.
