You lure the young buyers and hope they stay with the brands. Young buyers do not have that much disposable, so a cheap thrill (lower 20k range) or good mpg will do. Enter the Fiesta and the Euro Focus ST, which we are not allowed to have state-side. The price provided is deceiving to American! It's UK prices (£18,250 to £20,850) and it sounds like a lot. But check the Mazda3 MPS which is equivalent to a Mazdaspeed3 in the USA first. You will find that the UK Mazda3 MPS starts at £19,100, but yet the Mazdaspeed3 starts at US$23,090. This shows that when you look at prices of car, you MUST consider the average car price in that market. UK cars are priced much higher than the US cars. So if the Mazdaspeed3, which shares the Euro Focus platform is any indication, this Focus ST will likely price around US$25,000 and probably starting even lower than that. The torque peaking from 1600rpm is pretty useful and a lot more torque can be squeezed out from a simple chipping. Awesome overtaking car. Been in original Focus ST down some decent roads and it's a hell of a car to be in - really does the job of chucking you back deep into those recaros! Don’t forget this car is a great all-rounder.
