Ford has slowly been introducing its European product to the U.S. market, including the currently available Transit Connect and the on-its-way full-size Transit van.

Unfortunately for a handful of Americans who otherwise may have considered purchasing what will eventually come to be from the Ford Tourneo Custom Concept shown in the galleries above, this particular variant (which is one of three types of vans to utilize the Transit name in Europe) is not destined for U.S. shores.

“One look at the Tourneo Custom Concept is enough to tell you that it will inject an exciting new spirit into the personal use segment,” said Stephen Odell, CEO of Ford Europe.

That “excitement” Odell is referring to comes largely from the same Kinetic design language currently proliferating Ford’s car lineup, including the trapezoidal grill and large, tear-drop headlamp housings. Step inside and one will notice a dash layout not all that unlike that of the latest Focus or Fiesta as well – but of course this seats eight.

The concept, which obviously previews the next production version of the Transit Tourneo, also features multi-adjustable and removable rear seats and niceties like Sync Bluetooth connectivity and leather-trimmed seats with cloth inserts in a two-tone design.

Being a European van, the powertrain options include three diesels, ranging from 100, to 125, to 155 horsepower, all mated exclusively to six-speed manual transmissions that turn the front wheels (Jealous yet?). The production model will come in short- and long-wheelbase configurations.
