I have the 2002 ford focus ZTS mach4 and I love it. I understand all the jerks that say, “so what its still a ford”. Remember the Focus was not designed by us (united states) it was designed by Germany for the European roads not ours. So when you drive a Focus it may say Ford but really its made by the Germans like the Volvo and the Benz. It’s an excellent car!!!!!!!!

Once again, Ford makes nicer cars in Europe than the US. Why don’t they sell those cars here? Instead, they sell us trucks.

Of course this looks like a Vovlo and of course the Focus looks like the Mazda3 (my current car, which I love!). Volvo and Mazda are both owned in part by Ford. It’s platform sharing in all it’s glory.

Ford (like all auto makers) shares their platforms amongst their brands. This wouldn’t be the first time Ford stole from their children to boost their own lineup (i.e. stealing the Mazda6 and making the Fusion Family, etc.). Of course, it has gone the other way. The Volvo V40 is now based on the C1, Focus, Mazda3, platform while is used to be made on a Mitsubishi platform. Mazda needed an SUV, in comes the Escape. It goes on and on.

I think this is a good looking car. I would love to see it sold here in the US (hell, I’d love to see the Europe spec focus sold here period), but I don’t think this car makes sense here. Until the “Cheaper Hardtop Convertable” market opens up here, I don’t think this would sell here.

We have some ugly convertible over here (Germany) but this won’t be one of them. I think it is a poor mans C70 and at that an amazing value.

And for those complaing about the Ford/Volvo bit….what is worse? Incorportating heavily engineered Volvo tech and safety into Fords…or destroying Saab by infecting it with under baked GM tech and badge engineering which will run them out of business?

Funny how people in general always think a car is based off another one in relation to price. In this case a Euro Focus based on a Volvo. If you ask me, both the Euro Focus and Volvo are based off the Mazda 3. Don’t get me wrong, all three are great cars. However charging amost twice the amount of a Mazda 3 for that Volvo is just wrong. First you take someone else’s platform, and then charge twice the amount…who are you kidding Volvo? Or should I ask the real Volvo owner, Ford?

Of course it looks like a Volvo: Its based on the new Volvo C70 Cabriolet. Cheap rip off of a good car, if you ask me. And cheaper looking too. Damn Ford, just because you can’t come up with a good looking car doesn’t mean you should go and ruin someone elses good design. Make American cars, not Swedish ones!

huh… the front end looks nice, much better than any us focus ever… but i dont like how thick the windshield surround, and the rear end, like many above have said, look like they belong on another car… back to the drawing board, ford…

I’ve seen the 5D Hatch and 4D Sedan in person, and they are both beautiful and better looking than Volvos’ versions. (US Focus is a Joke). Unfortunately this drop top looks like a Volvo with a Focus front end and different tail lights. Now I just wonder how can Volvo charge more than this Focus. Pretty messed up portfolio if you ask me. I’d take this over Volvo’s any day.

Looks like a Volvo or Saab. Not bad, but nothing special either.
