And no, Fusion and 6 sales should not be counted as Ford or Mazda only, but they CAN be counted as FoMoCo sales. However we marketers want to twist it, we can.

What I will say is that lately the domestics have been looking much better, which puts a nice big smile on my face. I really feel the reputation big displacement, heavy handling and subpar interiors will soon be history. I, for one, cannot wait for the domestics to show me what they can do. 2010 is going to be a very good year.

Once again, read this (overly long) thread. GM trucks outsell Ford trucks. Not the other way round.

Ford counts the F450-750 in the F-Series sales mix. And Ford can rebadge the Focus as an F-10, the Fusion as an F-30, and the Taurus as an F-50, and GM would STILL SELL MORE FULL-SIZE TRUCKS.

You should know your competition better than that.

Ford doesn’t claim to sell more trucks than any other COMPANY, they claim to sell more trucks than any other single BRAND. That is true, and has been for 32 years.

But GM, as a company, sells more trucks than Ford does, and has every year this decade, and through most of the ’90s, ’80s, ’70s, and before.

Prove otherwise.

Ford has the best-selling single-branded full-size truck. But put Chevy and GMC’s nearly identical trucks together, and GM sells more.

That’s just the way it is.

Facts are facts. Prove your point if you can.

So GM is producing one basic truck that outsells the F-Series, which is two different trucks. And, as of June, they’ve sold 130,000 more units than Ford has in the last 9 months.

For MY2007, GM sold 164,045 more trucks than Ford did. In 2006, they outsold Ford by 43,500. In 2005, GM outsold Ford by 107,542. In 2004, the spread was 59,077. In 2003, it was 166,482.

Thing is, Ford’s numbers are technically accurate, but only because they count the F-150 and Super Duties in that mix. The problem with that is that the Super Duties are built on a completely different (read: much older) platform than the F-150 is built on.

The Silverado, Avalanche, and Sierra are all built on the same platform, as are the Silverado HD and Sierra HD.

The truth of the matter is, Ford doesn’t make the best-selling truck. GM does, they just market it in three versions under three different brands. What, are you going to say that the GMC Sierra doesn’t compete with the F-Series?

If they do, then Ford does have an equivalent, the F-Series.

So my point is…. Ford wins so shut the hell up I-6

GM DOES SELL MORE FULL-SIZE PICKUPS (614,000>484,000) than Ford. It’s just that the Chevrolet brand is about 20,000 units behind the Ford brand.

So sit down and shut up. When was the last time a Ford won truck of the year? When was the last time a Ford truck won an automotive comparison test?

Chevrolet’s pickups have proven to be more highly rated by every auto publication, they get better fuel economy, and rank higher in the quality surveys.

That’s just the way it is, my friend. And I don’t work for GM, a GM dealer, nor do I own a GM product.
