The so-called “Piquette Project” was absent from Monday’s announcement, and Ford did little to explain what sort of innovation it has in store. Ford also let the door open for more plant closures, saying it would announce two other cuts later this year. The plant closures that were announced didn’t come as much of surprise, but now workers across North America must wonder if their plant is still on the hit list. Ford committed to building a low-cost plant assembling small cars and crossover vehicles somewhere in North America. But where — and when — remains unclear.
