CDI 4-Banger? The VW 2.0t reaches peak torque as low as 1800rpms, and is available in enough cars to satisfy anyones appetite, at least for a daily driver. Leave the [good] 6's (ahem ford five hundred) and 8's for pure pleasure.

LLN likes to limit the information to its audience, and levies the subsequent ambiguity to cause people to engage in heated arguments, based on no facts.
It's been the trend in the articles with high post counts.
LOL!

There is plenty of fun to be had with displacements of less than 2500cc.

LLN doesn't belive in linking to their sources. They are probably afraid that if the follows a link to a site that even makes an attempt at journalistic integrity they'll never come back.

This should not be of any surprise. Engine technology has come a LONG way!

1991 Suzuki Sammy : 66hp.
1991 Dodge Spirit V6: 186hp
2006 Dodge Caliber: 145 to 300hp,

Looking at the Spirit V. Caliber, the 2.0 4 has as much power and torque as the old 3.0 V6

Couple the gains in power and reliability with the continued simplicity, improved gas milage, and high gas prices and this is really no surprise.

Personally though, unless it is a CDI 4, most 4 bangers do not make the low end torque I need... so I am left with 6's and 8's to meet my personal needs.
