The launch of Ford’s Fusion has hit a snag due to problems with the bankrupt automotive parts supplier Collins & Aikman. “There have been some minor part supply disruptions,” Ford spokesman Paul Wood told The Detroit News for a Thursday story. “Overall, the launch is going pretty well. It’s just a little short of the target.” Collins & Aikman is supplying the Fusion’s instrument panels, door panels and trunk systems. The vehicles will be built at Ford’s assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico. “As might be expected with a launch of this magnitude, we have experienced a number of glitches,” said David Youngman, vice president of communications for Collins & Aikman. “However, we are fully committed to supporting our customer as we work through our issues.”
