With the debut of Honda’s FC Sport concept car the the LA Auto Show today, car enthusiasts can rest assured high-performance vehicles will have a place in a world without carbon emissions. Honda surprised us with the launch of the new hydrogen-powered concept car, which seats three and employs the technology from the FCX Clarity sedan in a decidedly exotic package.
At today’s Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota unveiled a compressed natural gas version of the Camry Hybrid. Toyota says that it is looking into the production viability of a CNG-powered production vehicle as a way to ween automakers off of foreign oil as more than 99 percent of the natural gas consumed in the United States comes from North America.
A single diagram of what appears to be the 2010 Acura NSX has found its way onto the Web, offering the first ever glimpse at how the finished car will look. The new NSX, which has been delayed repeatedly, is expected to incorporate a front-mounted, 550 hp V10 engine and a new high-performance, rear-wheel-drive based version of Acura’s ‘Super Handling All-Wheel Drive’ (SH-AWD). A similar RWD/AWD system is also expected for the 2011 Acura RL.

Following a single leaked image of what appeared to be a NISMO edition of Nissan’s upcoming 370Z, a number of official NISMO pictures have surfaced online, proving that there will indeed be a NISMO version of the 370Z. The scanned images reveal the JDM version of the NISMO 370Z, but should give us a good idea of what to expect from the U.S. version.

Ford has begun testing the basic mechanical components of its forthcoming unibody Explorer. In typical Ford fashion, the donor-body used for developmental testing on this future Explorer is made up of various vehicles. In this case, modified body panels of a Taurus X and Ford’s new Flex are hiding the new crossover.

With the same front fascia, air intakes, and rear spoiler as the GT Speed coupe and sedan, we can only assume this GTC Speed convertible has the same 600 horsepower engine under its hood.

Our spy photographers again spotted Ford engineers testing the 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500 on Michigan roads, perhaps trying to get in some final dry weather runs before the winter season begins. The Shelby GT500 is a relatively new addition to the Mustang family, launched a little over two years ago. But with a redesigned Mustang around the corner, Ford engineers are naturally preparing a new GT500 based on the facelifted bodystyle.
