Maserati MC12 Corsa

05/26/2006, 8:29 AM

By admin

Maserati today announced production of the MC12 Corsa, a supercar build-to-order for a select number of Maserati clients. The MC12 Corsa has been developed from the MC12 GT1 type which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup. The car will cost 1 million euros (over $1.2 million). Like the Ferrari FXX, the car is meant for track use only, so the Bugatti Veryron doesn’t have too much to worry about. Power comes from a 6.0-liter V12 with 755 hp. The car weighs just 2,535 pounds thanks to its lightweight carbon-fiber body. Total production of the Maserati MC12 Corsa will not exceed 12 units worldwide. Image after the jump…

That’s pretty cool, But why would maserati Come out with a “Ferrari FXX fighter” they’re both based on the same platform and share most major components.

They are bases on the same platform and engine, so this is a de-tuned FXX really. Cool, none the less.

Jaguar Sovereign- Maybe Fiat realizes how ugly the FXX really is and how gorgeous the Masarati is.

I can’t wait for mine.
I’ll have a tuner add some power and aero and squash that smug FXX owner down the street on our neighborhood racetrack!
oops… woke up.

On a more serious note….
Stack up a long row of potatoes and hit ‘em at 100 mph.
Can you imagine all the perfectly cut fries in 8 perfect rows. 4 each side…. iff we can keep them off of the rear wing!

Anyone feel me?
XOXO

id rather take this than an enzo, because people dont know what it is. people see a fxx go down the road and they’ll imediatly recognize it as a ferrari. they see this goin down the road and they’ll scratch there head and say “what the h*ll was that?”

Anybody know the real story behind the design of MC12? I heard it was Frank Stephenson who designed the BMW X5 and new MINI, then he moved to Italy to become Design Director for Ferrari and Maserati, designed also F430 and FXX Super Enzo, and now is heading up Fiat and Lancia too. Is true?
