‘Veda’, don’t focus on the little details that won’t come to fruition anyway … look at the overall presence … art on wheels … not like 80-90% of the garbage on the road.

autonut: I’m no defender of China and their goods, but I would argue the main reason their stuff is crap is because they produce to a price point. We Americans consume! That’s what we do best. We need stuff, lots of it and at the lowest possible price possible for our cars, homes, garages. Hell we even rent storage space to hold the junk that wont fit anywhere else. Having so much stuff makes us feel good. It also makes the Chinese rich. We are the ones supporting the communist regime so we have only ourselves to blame.

Impulsive: agreed on its rather radical look though it’ll probably never pass the safety standard due to its comical look due to its bulging headlights. Everything else looks sleek though, at least better than the Genesis coupe.

Ignoring quality and performance, this car makes nearly EVERY car on the road today look bland. This is what is needed in car design by EVERY manufacturer.

Shame on all companies for producing forgetful, dull steel on wheels.

Design is better then anything Chris Bangle can produce.
I concur with everyone about Chinese quality or lack of thereof. I think the reason for non existence of quality not that Chinese are cheap, they actually degenerate gamblers, but total collapse of moral fiber during communist regime. Quality begins with the process and process must be transparent. Under communist regime transparency has no place in society. If you will look at Eastern Europe and even Russia, the quality of their products became exceptional since fall of communist rule – market economy does not accept crap. China still communist country. No matter how much our corporations will pump into Chinese economy they will not change attitude of the population.

I do agree that the designers probably had sex in mind when designing the front (i.e. grille), but the car is sexy. Its lines flow and it’s an overall great looking car, in my opinion. Now, I do agree that no one asked for my opinion, but what are comments for, after all?

I actually like it. But as all Chinese products, the quality just won’t be there. They are cheapskates. The only reason Chinese products are cheap is cause they pinch the quality all along the chain. Even their plastic drinking cups are so freaking thin that you have to be careful when holding it otherwise it will crumble in your hand and your drink will drop to the floor.

The taillights are about as long as a Smart car.

It has some cool elements in it but its overdone.

I think this concept looks great. It’s a bit daring, fun, stylish, and begs you to look at it more. The snout is fine, by the way, and it’s one of the few designs where those stretchy taillights work reasonably well. When I compare this to the load of unimaginative or ridiculous designs coming out of Europe or Japan, or the endless load of retro rip-offs from the USA, I say kudos to Geeley for putting out something quite decent looking.

1. The good:
a. nice proportions
b. not a ripoff
c. probably cheap
d. some interesting design ideas

2. The bad:
a. overdone details, looks like a cartoon/racing game “generic” car
b. not too sure about reliability
c. not too sure about safety
d. not too sure about performance

Nice overall shape, but the key design elements that make or break a car (especially the grille as others have pointed out) are ugly. However, even more important is what powers this thing, how safe it is, etc. Just because it looks decent on the outside (and that’s a stretch) doesn’t mean it is a good car. However, in a region of the world (East Asia) that produces some 80% of the world’s knock offs like fake Rolex watches and faux-near luxury cars like the Hyundai Genesis, it is pretty clear that these people are more concerned with how things LOOK than how they actually perform. I mean how many cars designs have Chinese automakers stolen? At least 20 that I have come across…and this Geeley (wtf is that name) also has elements of Pontiac design as others have pointed out

Remarkable and very interesting design. This would make a nice car, at least from the outside. The grill is a bit over built, like a strange looking gas mask or something, but the rest is a very effective exercise in stylistic exuberance.

Seeing this car,. you think of several cars at once, but that is hard not to do, for any company. They just rehash and subtly refine old designs of their own. So many newer Oriental automakers are erring on the side of just diving right in to various design motifs and making it there own, that it is quite forgivable as long as they don’t appear to be pretending it’s anything else. They simply don’t have the portfolio to fall back on so they have to risk copying or outright copy other designs.

Nah, that’s cop out. Such companies bring a level of original thought that is missed as soon as someone says “it looks like a…” A design not taken far enough is not the same as a design taken further than you thought you possible. It risks being ugly and some are just amazing works.

Good marks all around but falls short of perfect because of the snot on this car.

Ya I think it’s pretty clean looking; all they need to do is take the top line of the grill that swoops into the middle of it and make it a clean outline a-la Audi. I really like the chrome lining around the tail lights and how it swoops past the outline of the light, very cool and artsy.
