GeigerCars Hummer GT: Tuner gives truck 30″ wheels, 556 hp

10/17/2006, 8:30 AM

By admin

GeigerCars — the German tuner of all things American — today announced its latest project: the Hummer GT. The modified H2 rolls on giant 30-inch wheels with Pirelli tires and is powered by a 556 horsepower engine. The exterior is modified with a light blue and orange Heritage special paint scheme and gullwing doors.

The six-liter engine is upgraded using a supercharger kit and a stainless steel high performance exhaust system including special manifolds and a specially calibrated ECU. The tuned SUV takes 7.9 seconds to reach 62 mph. GeigerCars.de also lowers the Hummer H2 by about four inches and installs sport anti-sway bars for reduced silt tilt at faster cornering. It also features larger 15-inch perforated brakes with eight-piston calipers.

The cockpit features color-coded instruments and a multimedia system including a navigation system, DVD player, TV receiver and two LCD-screens which are integrated in the dashboard and a specially designed roof console. Gallery after the jump…

Absolutely unneeded in our world.. Sounds like it’s made with a corn-fed American in mind.

At least it wasn’t featured on Pimp My Ride.

But, we need things like this. People may hate it, but the world needs this Hummer GT. It’s different, radical, personal. Things that aren’t evident with all the rebadging going on.

I find this particular vehicle silly. I own (and need!!) a SUV, but this thing is stupid. The reason you have a hummer is to be rugged. Those 30″ rims are going to get bent just looking at them funny.

What’s with the Ford GT paint scheme??? This is beyond excessive, it’s just plain obnoxious. I’d be embarrassed to be seen in this thing.

When I see this paintjob I think Porsche 917 more than Ford GT-40, this being a German firm, I think they were channeling 917 as well.

Fatstrat, how is that art? My 5 year old nephew could make a better looking hummer, and its not pressing any bounderies, they gave it a paintjob, rims, and a blower. The only bounderies they’re pressing is that of the stock brakes, if its a GT it should perform all around, braking being part of that, 30 in. rims will destroy those brakes in a few thousand miles, not to mention not stop your vehicle for ****. Its not news, people try to pimp h2’s all day everyday, this probably takes the cake for worst try and least tastefull.

“no its definatly a Ford GT paintjob”

—its actually a Gulf Oil GT40 paint job from the ’60’s. And while I cant stand these stupid Hummers, especially when they try and make them similar to sports cars of the 60’s, this paint job is classic and interesting when blown up on such a large vehicle.

Wow, I usually like tuned cars, no matter who they’re from but this one is really ugly. The paintjob belongs on a Ford GT not on a 6000lb SUV. Those rims are way too big to be safe, and this thing will probably get like 4mpg. Those scissor doors look ridiculous. This is definitely not one of Geiger’s better efforts. Back in August, they released this monster offroad Hummer with increased height and all, thats the way a Hummer should look. This however, is obnoxious.

I like the concept of tricked out cars/trucks like this one, but I do have to admit, I have my misgivings about this particular model.

A) The H2 is ugly, end of story. The only time I’ve seen an H2 that actually looked good was Roadsurfer Customs’ HumDeville, where they gave an H2 an Escalade front end. Unless you do something that dramatic, you’re not going to make the thing look good. The Hummer front end is nothing more than a half-assed copy of the Jeep front end.

B) I would have expected more from a supercharged 6.0L V8. Unless it’s been optimized to provide a zillion pounds foot of torque, which I doubt it has, then I think Geiger grabbed some off-the-shelf components and bolted them onto the truck. It just doesn’t seem like they gave it a solid effort.

C) The brakes. Again, this would have been an opportunity to do some stellar engineering. If you’ve got 30″ rims, why not have 25″ brakes? I figure they just grabbed some of the biggest brakes they could find, which on this thing, are probably not nearly big enough.

D) The doors. I highly suspect this is yet another random kit that Geiger was able to bolt-on to this SUV. Furthermore, I’m quite certain that most scissor door kits for SUVs really hinder vehicle access. If they wanted to do something really cool, they could have given it actual gullwing doors.

E) The rims. Initially, I thought I liked the 30″ rims. Let’s face it, about the only vehicle that can manage 30″ rims is a Hummer, so if you’re going big, this is the car on which to go big. That being said, an H2 on 30s is nothing new. They aren’t even asymmetric for two different appearances, and they don’t spin. Those two design cues might be gawdy, but if thing isn’t already gawdy, I don’t know what is.

F) The interior. From the fleeting glimpse of it that we see in a few of the images, it looks pretty bone stock. Okay, so there are some TVs and the instrument panel is a different colour. Big deal. Where are the snakeskin seats? Shark tank? 20, 80 megaton subwoofers? I think the fact that we don’t see a straight up interior shot speaks volumes about how sparse it probably is.

G) The paint. Yeah, it is a classic paint job, and it looks fairly well executed. But, it’s not a paintjob that really makes sense on a GM vehicle. Furthermore, this isn’t a very bling-ish paint job. And, as many people have pointed out, this car isn’t exactly speedy, and the paintjob doesn’t give me that illusion even for a second.

My point is that this thing isn’t going to do very well at either the racetrack or at the King of Bling competition. And, I’ve seen GeigerCars do a whole lot better than this. Other than the misguided paintjob, I really get the impression that they bolted this together in a day.

Yeah, but what’s even funnier is that it’s still more functional than a jet ski! Yet people will pay $10k or more for a simple recreational vehicle that is of no use beyond simple fun. SO, putting this thing back into perspective, someone could go buy a boat, or this Hummer thing, because all it is is a big toy. Just like the “Blastolene” with it’s WWII tank engine.

BTW, “Z”, what is a corn-fed American?

remember, the auto enthusiast ‘tree’ has lots of branches and one of this is for bling/looks/individuality before performance. For every one of these blinged out rides that people like (from any shop) there are probably 9 others that are not well recieved. Its a risk, but at least this is a group trying to do something interesting with a car. Who knows, they might have built it for some rich dude who wanted it to match the GT40 in his 10 car garage.
I just think some of the reactions are just over the top too serious.

rat,
considering how common it is now, is it really an “individuality” thing to put monster rims, tv’s in the seats, the door kit, etc? I’d say it’s more of a ‘jump on the trend’ thing.
If you watch MTV cribs, or “Unique Whips”, blinged out hummers are more common than Toyota Camry’s. Like saying wearing your baseball cap backwards is expressing your individuality.

asher you twatsicle, the GT40 is a ford, and its clearly evidenced that this takes after the FORD GT by the font and placing of “HUMMER GT” on the side. not to mention that GT is in the name. regardless of gulf’s sponsorship, its a ford.
