Porsche tuner Gemballa has announced a new kit for the Porsche 911 Turbo called the Turbo GT 550. Designed for the new 997 model, it provides increased aerodynamics and a boost to 500 horsepower. The Turbo GT 550 requires less than 3.8 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph, or 3.6 seconds with overboost.
A front spoiler reduces lift on the front axle, while new side skirts maintain design consistency. Discreet air inlets help to cool the tires and brakes, and the rear wing has been significantly modified from the production version. It features openings at the bottom to supply the turbocharged engine with additional air, plus a large main spoiler to create downforce for the rear axle. Gallery after the jump…

Nice car..
, just depends on the amount you have to pay over the stock Turbo 997
spoiler is a bit ridiculous though, damn huge.
Still i like the old GT2 GT3 range more
The new front end on the 997’s, reverting back to old styling in my opinion, are a bit boring.
Still, i would drive it

Is “500 horsepower” a theme of the day?? This, the Element, the Mustang. All the news in same day about 500 hp engines. ha. Its nuts. But its great.

Just a matter of time before Gemballa got their hands on the 997 Turbo. Nicely done.

If that isnt the stupidest spoiler…
…most of the “downforce” is due to it’s sheer mass.

This is one mean looking porsche. The rear wing is a bit much, but I can forgive it for being a dual purpose item. Engine airscoop and rear downforce. This car looks evil in black.

that spoiler is horrible, and how come they added 20 horsepower and it’s 0.2 seconds slower than Car and Driver’s stock tested 911 turbo?

The wing is pure rice, and the least they could do is center the exhaust tips in the outlet – they’re crooked! I think the stock turbo looks better.

i like their carrera GT exhaust idea, but yea they could look more centered. this car is awesome, gemballas rule.

Factory GT3 looks better.
And you have to subtract .2 when they quote 0-62 instead of 0-60. (62mph is 100kph)

z06ified,
Im pretty sure the wing is more functional than cosmetic. I guess your not familiar with most Porsche racecars? Im talking about wings that are higher than the roofline! LoL, it’s true they might look alittle rediculous…but you have to understand that with a car like this, most people & tuners are more worried about how hard they can get the car to take a turn at highspeed without having the back end lift and kick out. Not what it looks like.
I will agree with you, it is a bit large, but us Porsche enthusiasts are used to it already and we understand…it’s function before form over at Stuttgart, and we don’t blame ‘em.

Also, as I have stated numerous times, Car and Driver’s times are always a bit, shall we say, optimistic. Not sure why, but I’ll bet it just has something to do with the way they test 0-60 times.
What interests me most about this car is the person who designed it. I’d like to know why they figured discreet air vents were necessary (or desirable) on a car with an ironing board bolted to the back of it.

I also had the same question as Don… good catch Don it seems like they add a stupid looking spoiler and seemingly 20 more ponies and make it slower and charge an arm and a leg extra for it i bet ? typical porsche WAY WAY over priced for the performance you get…

^typical porsche WAY WAY over priced for the performance??? Are you serious? More like typical response from someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. There are plenty of manufactures that WISH they had the same success and loyal cusomers as Porsche does. I’d like you to tell me who else makes vehicle with the same fit & finish, performance, styling, and heritage as they do. Please enlighten me.

GL1,
who are you reffering to? A stock turbo, around 130g’s, 0-60 in the mid 3’s. Compare that to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, etc, ALL over 200g’s.
On top of performance, you get top notch interiors, build quality, great resale. Not to mention the all weather capabilities that NO ONE ELSE has.
What competition are you going to point to?
