If the punchline is flying cars, I guess I missed the joke.

How out of touch do the marketing heads have to be to think that these videos would become “viral”? They made my eyes roll so hard they fell right out of my head–That’s how lame these are. Videos become ‘viral’ by being interesting or entertaining enough that they become popular thru word of mouth, but I wouldnt want to waste anyone else’s time by sharing this, nor would I want to embarass myself by showing them something so utterly stupid. More importantly, there’s nothing about these clips that inspires interest in or reflects favorably on GM.

In fact, it’s quite the opposite: NOTHING is lamer than seeing a company trying to jump on a trend and completely missing the mark. It’s like Dr. Evil trying to be “hip” by doing the Macarena, except this wasn’t funny. Funny was a the cat-eating Ford Ka, or un-pimping autos, or a Tacoma surviving a crazy girlfriend’s push off a cliff. This was just lame. GM, I’m embarassed for you.

It would be cool if they made videos of their cars doing things they really could do. Show me a video of a GM car driving down the road without lots of squeeks & rattles. show me a video of a well designed dash not covered in hard misaligned plastics. Show me a video of a GM car with a 5 year 60k bumper to bumper and 10 year 100k powertrain video. Oh wait, I’ve seen those videos, but from Hyundai.

Improve quality and materials first – then splurge resources on fake viral videos.

Flying cars are a rediculous invisionment. Driving normal cars is already the most dangerous thing we do on a daily basis could you imagine idot people flying them. Flying them into eachother, and crashing down into a business or residence perhaps. Its Ludicrous. Somewhat off topic but, anyone who cares about what they drive would never buy a GM car they are just the worst.

The point of advertising is not always to educate the consumer about the product, who cares what these have to do with GM. I think they are hilarious.

I agree what in the wide world of sports was even the point to these films anyway ? they actually are a complete waste of time and money as they have no tie back to GM at all and have no point to them either.. Whoever approved money to make these at GM should be fired as they are a total waste of GM’s money…they advirtise NOTHING for GM..and they can’t afford wasting money right now

It was probably thought up by someone at Campbell Ewald (spelling?), which is Chevy’s ad agency, and I think the default agency for generic GM stuff.
The perspective on that last one looks…mmm…not so good.

They’ve been running similar flying car ads during NFL games, so that kind of dilutes these shorts. The product placement is weak, the flying cars look completely generic just zooming by. Seems to me the viral marketing campaigns that get the big circulation are “edgy” and these shorts are not.
