I worked at the moraine assm. and took the buyout (140,000) and went south to the georgetown plant (toyota) cause i know that moraine is going down the drain. They plan on scraping the 360 project and making the SUV's only for a short time.

Ok I am Bias because I do work @ Moraine Assembly for 8 years.

The first post Chris just to let you know I just bought my '06 Trailblazer when they announced cutting 3rd shift. The Interior is much better but needs more improvent. I also got the 5.3 V8 DOD so it is avalible they just need them to be factory E-85 capatible. I don't think there is room for 3rd row IMO.

Now with the product line they need to drop the Buick Rainer, Saab 9-7x. They need to keep the Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, and I guess keep the 5,000 a year Isuzu Assender.

Lambda platform needs to be Buick Enclave (hotness), Saturn Outlook, Saab 9-6x, and even a Caddilac. They should drop the GMC Acinda, and the Chevy.

This will give GM more of variety that they so need. They also will have a couple body on frame Mid Size SUV's

I would rather have a product at Moraine Assembly that needs an output of 300,000+ a year so we can get our 3rd shift back. I miss my Ovetime!!! lol

First off, can't a vechicles like chrysler voyagers carry seven people and their luggage. That was the point of them in the first place. SUV were to have go anywhere capabilities so to me this seems more ignorant. They have more room and are more efficient without that four wheel drive capability hardware holding them back.

Second goes to comment #8 who says "Stuart you have a face only a Mother could love !". Least there is someone to love my face unlike you. Your mum doesn't infact she would probably have prefered you to be dead then the way you came out you retarded, son of a prostitute. PRICK

A sedan will not carry my kids and my stuff. And I am not getting rid of my stuff (or my kids on this fathers day!) I guess people with families are retards?

The government many years ago killed the great station wagon with forced MPG laws. The carmakers found a way to give people what they needed-a vehicle capable of hauling people and stuff-the SUV.

There is no room for a seat in the back in the non XL version trailblazer.

V8 is a good idea except with gas over $2.70 and the more efficient full size it probably would not sell.

Oh yea, the XL versions are gone. I got the last one!!

And I really would rather have the Lamda but I have to buy now.

Stuart: maybe you don't have to haul anything, (and that's OK, keep buying a car) but for those that do - me included - it's essential that we buy an SUV. Yes, most people just show off, but keep in mind some people have real uses for them and saying "they suck" or "they're shit" is pretty ignorant... :-/

Exactly right #14 that Inline 6 would be great in a sedan or long hooded coupe. I think right now they just have variable valve timing on the exhaust side so add it on the intake side and that should be good for 300 hp and close to 300 lb/ft.

Make a hipo version with turbos like the Trailblazer SS and that would be a very hot car.

That straight six motor in these trucks is one of the best powertrains in the company.

GM could build such a sweet basic RWD sedan around that thing. 275 hp and 275 lb/ft, and the smoothness of an inline-6.

They won't though.

Amazing. 9 productive responses that show good thinking and no bias, and then one idiot breaks the chain.

Always happens...

The Rainier's being killed for '07/'08, as is the Rendezvous. Saab's rumoured to be getting a crossover on either Lambda or the Caddy SRX platform. Which leaves just TrailBlazer and Envoy (and Ascender, if you wish to count that rubbish). The Envoy, I believe, should definitely stay.

mid-sized truck based SUV is history. Either get a full sized truck based SUV, or go unibody.
The Enclave/Outlook/Acadia wins in mpg and refinement.
Yes, Trailblazers sell well, but at $19k. There is no profit at $19k.

i think they should keep the envoy instead of this new acadia crap... body-on-frame works better as a gmc than some newfangled crossover... though a lambda saab might work, which is why its rumored theyre working on one...

Amongst forgetting a few words, I forgot to mention that I think this is a smart move by GM. Body-on-frame SUV's are a dying breed, one that I dont see ever coming back. Which isn't exactly a bad thing.

Maybe It's time to drop one of the Trailblazer variants, though. With Buick and GMC getting the new Lambda's, I think the Rainier and Envoy could be easily axed and I doubt anyone would really notice, or care. I dont think the 9-7X really fits into Saab's roots, nor is there a huge demand for a Saab SUV.

Crown Vic'ing sounds better than Vicing.

Other than though, I agree, the Trailblazer is the new Astro. It debuted in what, '01?

More like Trailblazer the new Astro. Really stylistically these vehicles do not need updates on the exterior as the new full size SUVs look very similar to these models. Freshen the interior and make it more reliable and keep on plugging. It would be great if they focused on fixing whats broke about these vehicles like a 3rd row in the regular wheelbase.

Slap in a 5.3 add a 3rd row and I will trade in my 99 Durango if you make it reliable enough.
