George Lucas gets first Mosler MT900S

December22

Famous film director and “Star Wars” creator George Lucas has taken delivery of the first street-legal Mosler MT900S. The black-on-black coupe — worthy Darth Vader — weighs just 2400 lbs and is powered by a 435 hp all-aluminum V8. It can hit 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.

Lucas’ car was delivered personally by Mike Vietro, owner of Mosler Mike Motorsports, the exclusive North American distributor for Mosler Automotive. (The first two MT900S production road cars remain in-house Mosler vehicles.)

“I was drawn to its looks, its power, its use of high-tech materials, and, of course, its speed,” said Lucas, who also owns a Ferrari F360. The Mosler MT900S relies on lightweight carbon fiber composites in its tub and body panels. It also utilizes Kevlar, an ultra-strong, lightweight composite, in its floor, body and door structures. 4. Lucas is a speed fan. If you listen to the sound effects for a lot of the ships in Star Wars, they are derived from either race car, motorcycle or prop plane engines. He’s into motorcycle racing and way back in the day, he used to do amateur races with a Porsche if I remember correctly.

  7. Ricardo, since you’ve obviously had your head in the sandbucket for the last couple of years, you should know that the Mosler MT900S is a pretty damned good supercar. You’re the one lacking in taste to appreciate it. I’m the first one to bash George Lucas’ recent bad movies but he has always been a car guy way back to his younger days (ever see “American Graffiti”? He loves fast cars and classics).

Anyone who makes “American Graffiti” is sure to appreciate a Mosler for the unique car that it is.

  8. Funny, I didn’t see a Mosler in American Graffiti…is there a sequel afoot? ;)

  9. lol, 451 ;D I just meant his love for hotrods appears all throughout his movies:

THX1138 (1971) — the Ferarri-like police cars at the end of the film
American Graffiti (1973) — every 50’s/60’s hotrod in the movie plus Richard Dreyfuss’ Fiat which was a reference to Lucas’ own Fiat back in the day
Star Wars — The land speeder, Millenium Falcon and I suppose every other fighter jet and engine sound effect in the films.

If George Lucas COULD focus himself back to his roots, (note if he COULD), he’d probably make a better attempt capturing small town hotrod culture than those F&F movies. Blech.

  10. it might do 3.1 without him in it to ruin all the work making it light

  11. During driving does he mutter to himself that “now I will experience the true powahh” of the dark side of the force?” Once he gets tangled in traffic he might say “now my failure is complete.”

About as boring as the dialog he writes for those audaciously bad films.

  12. I know he owns one of the 51 origional Tuckers, and I believe at one point he had 2 of them. Lucas knows his cars. He could afford a collection that would put Leno to shame. This car is totally evil looking, and is certainly appropriate for the creator of Lord Vader.

  14. ^ he could’ve had it deleted as an option. With manufacturers like these, you can get the cars the way you want them to be. After all, your paying alot of money for it.

    Ricardo Head,
Your such a moron. What makes you think Lucas cares what anyone else thinks about what he’s driving. It’s his money and not yours, even though I detect alot of jealousy in your stupid post. Go away man, nobody wants comments like that here. It’s funny, because when it comes down to reality, while your typing away your pathetic little child hands away, he’s cruising around in his supercar. Grow up.

  22. Grooves, slashes, cuts, louvers, gashes, creases EVERYWHERE and not one small channel to catch the rain so when you open the door you are not under Niagra Falls.

Designed by a teenage boy. Just silly. A big kitcar.

  30. The cars at the end of THX1138 were GT40s not Ferraris.

The Mosler is a very cool car, but Lucas crossed over to the dark side with Episodes I, II and III.

All I want to know is who is the hotty-ho?

  35. It looks like a Hotwheel. I never liked cars that looked like Hotwheels; I was more of a Matchbox and Corgi man myself.

His girlfriend/wife is lovely and should not be disrespected, especially since she has to put up with that gut and plaid shirt.

I believe after the first Star Wars Spielberg and Lucas got matching Porsche 928s.

  36. It never ceases to amuse me how people who saw Star Wars as a kid expect to get the same experience from the recent Star Wars releases. Fact is these movies are made for kids and kids love them. Today’s popularity of the Star Wars brand and movie ticket sales can undeniably attest to this fact. If you are in your thirties and complaining about the dialog and quality of episodes I-III, you probably are desperately trying to recapture you childhood but are finding that you have lost your sense of wonder and imagination. If you want a rich experience from a movie, go to one for adults.

Oh… and George, love the car. Keep up the good work!
