German magazine drives Aston Martin Rapide

06/08/2006, 11:37 AM

German magazine AutoBild got a chance to get behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Rapide Concept. A roughly translated version of the article should give you some idea of what the magazine thought of the car. Failing that, there’s a great photo gallery showing some real-life shots of the car, including the magazine’s tester trying to squeeze into the back seats.

This is the first shot of the Rapide without those gorgeous girls. Did Aston Martin run out of gorgeous girl supplies for their cars? Will I be able to get an Aston Martin with these girls as part of the package? This is issue could be a deal breaker for most Aston Martin owners out there.

#1, That sex on wheels description is an understatement when describing this car however, there is nothing that I know that could better describe it.

The thing is gorgeous !

It works, its distinctive, its classy, without weird trendy design. Its got Aston Martin written all over it without screaming.

That is some class to have the final inspection guys name on the car very cool. I always like the signature blocks on the old Mustang Cobra engines too.

In all honesty id rather drive the Panamera, if it were to look like those GOOD shots floating around. Yes, the Rapide is absolutly beautiful… but i think the DB9 look is much too close, and the fact that it is simply a stretched DB9 feels like too much of an afterthought. Maybe i just hate those white taillights.. but the rear looks a little boney from the shots ive seen as well. The car should have more of a sloping coupe profile to it, like the CLS, rather than the one it has now. Basically Aston needs to give it a buttlift with a stockier rear end, and it’ll be perfection.

I don’t care if it looks like a stretched DB9. This thing doesn’t scream style and elegance, it whispers at it loud enough for anyone to hear. Well done.

Sorry, but it is beautiful. Makes the Panamerica look like a Chevy Monza.
