On the heels of two previous recalls that impacted nearly 500,000 vehicles, Subaru has announced a new recall that will address problematic moonroof constructions.

Following a report of a car’s moonroof glass falling off, Subaru has determined that the adhesive securing the glass to the retainer in the moonroof of certain cars was improperly applied. The moonroof glass of the affected cars is at risk of detaching, which could potentially damage trailing vehicles and lead to accidents.

The company is recalling nearly 70,000 affected Outback and Legacy vehicles made from August 3, 2010 through July 1, 2011 to address the issue. Owners can take their cars to a dealership to have the moonroof adhesive inspected, and when necessary new seals will be applied or the glass itself will be replaced.

The two previous Subaru recalls concerned rusty hanger brackets and faulty windshield wiper motors.
