Saab owners worried about warranty coverage and the availability of parts received a welcome reprieve on Monday as Saab Automobile Parts North America (SPNA), the exclusive provider of Saab Genuine Parts and Accessories to the U.S. and Canadian markets, announced that it has inked a new Warranty Services Agreement with General Motors.

Per the terms of the deal, SPNA will now handle all warranty claims in the U.S. and Canada for 2009 and older Saab vehicles still covered by GM's factory warranty. SPNA's network of 179 Warranty Service Providers will provide all warranty-related work.

"Our agreement with General Motors is an important step in supporting Saab owners in North America and ensuring they have access to Saab Genuine Parts, service programs and technical support for years to come," said Tim Colbeck , President and CEO of Saab Automobile Parts North America.

SPNA's Warranty Services Agreement officially went into effect on December 17.

Although left out of the latest warranty announcement, owners of 2010 and 2011 model year Saab aren't completely out of luck. SPNA says it will launch a new Saab Secure program in early 2013 that will provide "limited service support" to owners of newer Saab vehicles.
