In 1989 when i came to canada i bought a 1988 toyota 4runner because it was for so cheap and it has been the best truck i have ever had, Ok i lied it has been the only truck i have ever had, but i guess the only reason why i think it was so great was because of the bull shit car i owned in Ukraine. Anyways good on ya GM i always knew you would turn things around. I hope i can get the new Camaro when it comes out and i hope you put out a ZL1 version of it.

AMGoff, be careful–the article does not say that GM was more profitable than Toyota, just that it had more revenues. I haven’t read the Fortune 500 article, but two things alone spring to mind: (1) revenues are definitely not the same as profit. GM might have brought in $207 billion, but it’s expenses and liabilities might be $208.5 billion; (2) it’s not clear that the revenues were from just auto sales. The total figures might include revenues generated from investments, subsidiaries, financing companies etc. Therefore, having higher revenues, but lower volume of vehicles produced, doesn’t necessarily mean that consumers are buying GM vehicles at a higher price (thus, earning GM more $) than Toyotas.
There are many ways to gauge the profitability of a car company, total profits (Toyota), profit per vehicle (Porsche), but total revenues? Not so much. GM’s still in trouble, but what it does show is that if GM can cut expenses, it definitely has the cash flow to be profitable.

Blah Blah Blah… I’m too tired to even argue this same old debate. I’ll only point out the fact that Toyota sold 128,000 more cars than the General did, yet somehow GM was more profitable. Hmmm…? The only thing that really pisses me off is the American’s who come on here and show absolutely no appreciation for what these companies have done for our country, let alone other countries.

Veda is rite, most of the big 3′s cars are no match to the superiority of the Europeans of japs. they got some good trucks and suvs, and some performance wise cars, but their cars behind its competitors. DCX is going to the crapper with its quality, gm is making a comeback but its not enough, nor is E85 the future. ford is also trying to revive itself, but again not enough. their executives arent as smart or intellegent as executives of rivaling carmakers, theyre losing their sense.

They are ran by a bunch of arrogant lazy rednecks and ghetto blacks who don’t care much about innovation and market demands plus complete disregard to the environment and advertised by dominating a certain classic TV series movie about giant robots, so they deserve to die. Of course they are no match to the superior engineering and classy designs of the europeans or the meticulous details and perfection of the Japs. Why oh why haven’t you gotten the idea by now? Why does everyone go GM IS GOING DOWN every time some bad news about GM comes up? I love it when you people go FORD IS GOING DOWN THEY’LL BE BROKE AND BANKRUPTY BY NEXT YEAR! GM isn’t going out of business, they aren’t losing money anymore (at least in NA, they’ve been losing money in Europe for like 10 years now), and Ford has cut its quarterly losses from 1.5 billion to only 250 million and Ford has some great cars in its lineup now to help get them back into shape. GM isn’t doing much to change however. Neither one of these companies is going anywhere and I don’t understand what some of you guys have against them. Did they sleep with your g/f? Did they beat up your dad? Did their high school football team beat yours at your homecoming game? I just don’t get it. What does everyone have against the Big 3?
