2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ

01/31/2006, 6:15 PM

By admin

General Motors will introduce the all-new 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ, the latest rollout of its next-generation full-size truck family and the industry’s most flexible utility vehicle, at the Chicago Auto Show. GM also will make two major announcements: One will build on the “Live Green Go Yellow” campaign GM launched Jan. 25 in Washington, D.C.; the second involves a technology enhancement at OnStar. OnStar will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the show.

“GM continues to demonstrate bold and innovative leadership in products and technology,” said Brent Dewar, GM vice president, marketing and advertising. “On these fronts and more, GM is truly on a roll.”

The Chevy Avalanche was the first to combine the passenger-comfort attributes of an SUV with the cargo capability of a truck. The 2007 model is based on GM’s brand-new, full-size SUV platform, which features more power with improved, segment-leading fuel economy and flex-fuel capability on some models; a sharper, more precise driving feel; increased interior refinement and improved quietness; and world-class safety. It will go on sale in the second quarter of 2006.
“Avalanche created the segment and it continues to dominate it. In 2007, the original gets even better,” said Dewar.

GM’s Chicago Auto Show exhibit also will feature many of the products introduced last month at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show and North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The front of this is BY FAR better looking than the current Gen Avalanche.

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing the 3/4 ton and hope that it has finally lost the cladding. Now if they only have a diesel option and potentially a manual transmission…………..This vehicle defines the class.

Previous Avalanche was designed by the knuckelheads who designed the AZTEC. This one is much better…

Boring lines on this one. The original, more aggressive looking Avalanche is much better. Why is GM copying it’s copycat (ie Ridgline). Guess I will be keeping my 02 Avalanche.

Great looking truck. I’m glad GM finally got rid of the ugly, defective cladding and stupid looking square fenders of the original.

I have a 04 with the body cladding, One advantage of the body cladding is that you get NO door dent’s from parking lot jerks driving lesser cars… This design will get door dent’s…

Will probably keep the 04 Avalanche, but trade in my 04 Trailblazer for a 08 Avalanche(Never, never buy the first year).

Then I’ll have two

I thought this was a Honda Ridgeline when I first saw it. The first gen Avalanche was distinct looking – this one is the epitome of boring.

Looks like a Honda (Ridgeline) with a bowtie! I like my ‘04 without the body hardware and will be keeping it for a while. Great vehicle!!

This is the best design GM ever made. I m’ definately gonna get me one. I will put all chrome accessories on it, then it will beat the new escalade EXT.

I just saw this live at the Chicago auto show. It looks GREAT in person! I have an ‘03 without the cladding and love it. The lines of the new version are even better. The Avelanche at the show was the same color as the oone pictured above. Not sure what they call this version of orange, but it looks great. It is a lot closer to the Sunset Orange of my ‘03, rather than what they changed to in ‘04 which was Sunburst Orange (way less red in it).

The only thing I would be leary of is the new engine, used also in the tahoe/suburban/etc. which deactivates to run on only 4 of the 8 cylinders while at cruising speed. Time will tell if there are any problems with that.

I have had an 03 and an 04 and i think the 07 looks the best yet. I have just ordered an LTZ but can’t find any pics of the colors. I chose Silver Birch. Has anyone seen it is these colors?

I have been all excited to finally see/buy the newest Avalanche. Now that I have seen it, I think I will just trade in my 2002 for a nice used one or get a 2006 before the dealers run out. The 2007 looks like someone fed a Honda Ridgeline some steroids. The laugh was bad enough when Bowtie fans saw Honda attempting to create a mini Avalanche. Now, I am truely shocked at what I see!! Maybe some edgey cladding will dress it up some, make it look like a chevy truck again?!

I have been waiting to see the 07 I was going to trade in my 02 but I just changed my mind. I feel as though a chevy should look like a chevy not a honda. I think they improved on the interior but lost on the exterior. I wonder what the 07 looks like with Cladding.

What to do What to do. I have been dealing with Honda on the Ridgeline, but love the looks of this one. At least I know the side compartments work as a great tailgating cooler!! What to do???

Everyone has opinion… If my friends at the dealership are right, this thing will get better gas mileage, and have a lot more power than the 6-cylinder only Ridgeline. Oh yea, and a mid-gate.

Have a 2002 Z66. Canadian Hockey family. We have over 207000 kms and are trading. I love my truck but the 2007 have lost that “nasty” look that I liked when we got the first one. I don’t like the colored bumpers and the moldings are not available. boooooo. Drove and Infiniti FX (NO!) Cadillac SRX (NO!) Want my avalanche but the husband wants to trade so we are settling for the 2007 LTZ loaded. I like everything but the change in the exterior look. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it please

This is the one I have been waiting for, should be out later this year? Only thing that could make it better is if they made it as a GMC also! Will they?

The ridgeline is not a truck, its a van with a box based on the Avalanche that gmc should never touch to avoid ruining the truck that finaly got away from too much clading. Tail gate should say chevrolet not the bowtie and the yes the nose should be a little tougher but will still get one.

I have an 06 and have looked briefly at the 07s. I am not sure I would like the new exterior and there is a lot less storage in the dash area of the 07s, like all the little compartments. The only reason I would change, would be for better fuel mileage. Now I am getting 19.5 around town and 21.5 on the highway; however I am very delicate with the gas pedal as quick getaway starts and super fast freeway speeds. I would like to see a diesel engine in the line up.
