Truth, there are stage 1,2 and 3 kits all available from GM. Stage 2 bumps horsepower up to about 245 from 205 but you must run premium fuel if you aren't already. That allows the car to do 0-60 in about 5.4 seconds, and just to give you an idea of just how fast that is, the new Mustang GT V8 with a 5 speed manual transmission can get to 60 in 5.1 seconds, so the stage 2 is no slouch. Having said that, the stage 3 is not covered by GM warranty, only stage 1 and 2 are. Stage 3 has an even smaller pulley than the stage 2 and even larger 60 pound injectors, along with a completely different PCM. On premium fuel, the car has 250 horsepower with stage 3, but the stage 3 allows you to run 100 octane if you desire and that bumps you up to 260 horsepower, plus the stage 3 kit allows for a 50 shot of nitrous any brand, pushing you to 300 horse on premium fuel, or 310 with 100 octane. The stage 3 kit deletes the air conditioner so you cannot use it with this kit. And although its engineered by Gm, its considered an off road kit and will void your warranty.

i have read that the stage two kit is suppost to put your horse power just under 300 horses. im not sure what other parts are in the stage two put there are more than that. there is a stage three out and it is supposedly by vortech but it is a special order and custom make.

this is for the guy at towards the bottom, there is no stage three upgrade, only one and two, so before you try and impress people, do a little research

My new 06 Cobalt doesn't look like the picture here. Different rims and front end. It's a lot better looking that this new photo IMHO, so don't let the styling in this pic dissuade you from checking out the current model. I like mine a LOT! Power is smooth compared to my Eclipse w/turbo and it rides nice and flat under hard accel, and fairly comfortable on long trips. My mileage so far is hovering around 26-28 City and 30-32 Highway on the stock supercharger - a good bit better than was advertised on the sticker. Had 49 miles on it when I test-drove it, so I got a real peach. : )

The Stage 2 has more power through the middle section of the power curve. It's not all about the peak number, contrary to popular belief.

And the title is poorly worded, as all ion redlines are supercharged, and the cobalt SS supercharged, to which this upgrade is applicable, is obviously already supercharged. these are just things that improve the power of the supercharger. The cars are made to be driven, they don't just have superchargers slapped on them.

Great (sarcasm). See enough action with all the WRX Si's, SRT4s, and souped-up Civics around here (SoCal). Now let's throw SS Cobalts and Red Lined Ions in the mix :(

This is a good value, even the weird pricing of the stage 2. Maybe it's an expensive billet pulley or something? I what the warranty story is? Too bad the cars aren't that great, but some versions of the Cobalt look OK, especially for the price. All this stuff should be made available on the HHR too, assuming they make a Supercharged version of that. They'd be silly not to.

i dont get it... for $250 more than the stage 1 kit, you get 5 more horsepower and 13 more lb-ft of torque? that would make the $400 to upgrade from stage 1 to 2 even more pointless...
is there something else worth lots of $$$ in stage 2 that im not seeing?
