General Motors dealers in the United States sold 297,556 new cars and trucks in November, a 6 percent increase compared with last year. Beginning with the 2007 model year in September, retail sales are up 13 percent while retail sales for November were up 11 percent compared to a year ago. Retail truck sales were up 17 percent, led by strong Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Cadillac Escalade sales. Retail car sales were up 1 percent. [data sheet].
Meanwhile, Ford dealers delivered 182,259 vehicles to U.S. customers in November, down 10 percent compared with a year ago. Overall, truck sales were down 13 percent, while car sales were just 3 percent lower. Jaguar sales fell 35.2 percent, Land Rover sales dropped 7.6 percent, while Volvo sales rose 14.3 percent. Lastly, the Chrysler group reported that unadjusted sales in November 2006 rose 3 percent to 164,556 units, compared to November 2005 sales of 159,898 units — the best November in five years. [data sheet].
