AHHHH Shut-up will ya Detroit Dude !! I can’t…….those V-8 GM-Holdens use the Chevy small block V-8’s, designed right here in the good ‘ole USofA. The GM-Holden designed Camaro will be produced in Canada. Future Pontiacs, like the GTO did, will come from GM-Holden right out from “Down Under”…future Buicks could share designs with GM-China, where Buick and GM are a smash hit, the list goes on and on. And what is the point Detroit Dude !? Point is, in this global economy, GM is truly a Global company. Many so called automotive “enthusiasts” are unaware of just how global GM really is, and just hand off the future to Toyota. No one can argue Toyota’s success, but whether GM is #1, 2 or 3 in the future, who cares ?, and will it really matter ? Don’t count GM out. Their global resources are tremendous, and now that they’re getting focused with the Global Design Centers, have the Quality in-order, and are getting North America back on solid ground, I for one think they will be a tremendously fierce competitor from this point on…..Don’t believe me, do the research for yourself. You’ll be amazed at what you find. O.K., Detroit Dude ! will shut his flapper door and go back to sleep now !!

AWSOME!! I felt sure that I’d have to come back and explain the “facts” to the circle jerks, however, Chevy490,Fireresq157, Elvio and Chris2 did such an eloquent job setting the record straight that I should keep my flapper door shut !! But I can’t. I get too emotional at the misinformation of some of the posts in these forums. But thank-you, at least four others have a handle on the “global” auto industry and how it works. Stu, the Saturn Aura is NOT a rebadged Opel, it is an Epsilon platformed vehicle, true, but other than styling, it shares little with the Opel Vectra and is more closely related to the Pontiac G6 / Chevy Malibu, and the Saab 9-3 (of which the Saab is produced in Sweden by the way). The Aura is produced in the same plant that makes the Malibu, which is Fairfax, Kansas. Gotta admit, GM did a good job here, they fooled you, Mr. Automotive Expert! The Saturn SKY is not an Opel, but there is an Opel GT that is a Saturn Sky (can ya beat that ?!). The current Vue, Ion, or new Vue are not Opel’s. The Saturn Outlook is 100% American, as is the ill conceived Relay. The new ‘08 Saturn Vue is a GM Daewoo design that launched first in Asia-Pacific, followed by Europe, and now North America. It’s a true example of “globalization”. The next generation Ion will be very closely related to the Opel Corsa and probably be produced in Springhill, TN. All small Chevy’s are NOT from Korea, only the Aveo is from Korea, again a GM Daewoo product. The Aveo, by the way, is the #1 seller in it’s compact segment here in the U.S., imagine that !! The Colbalt is a U.S. design built in Lordstown, OHIO (last time I checked a map, Ohio was still in the USofA, no !). MC (Mentally Challenged ?), the new Impala has been produced in Canada since CY 2000, if that’s an import in your book, so be it. No major auto manufacturer produces vehicles in just one country, not Toyota, not Nissan, not Honda, you get the picture…(one can only hope !). I don’t share your view that all Chevy’s look like import cars either, but you’re entitled to your opinion. Also, look for a lot of GM-Holden designs to make thier way to the U.S. in the form of Chevy’s, Pontiacs and Buicks. Rear drive V-8’s !!! Go GM go !!! Try harder next time guy’s, you’re posts display a distinct ignorance of the global auto industry, and seem to indicate a lack of understanding the basic automotive facts.

Stuart is clueless all he does is complain about GM , guess hes not old enough to go out and get laid. All his statements have flaws or errors because he doesn’t bother to look up stuff. He just uses his flawed and selective memory. One example the Saturn Sky will possibly rebadged as an Opel in Europe not the other way around.

Toyota is a world wide company. They are not “copying” imports. Different regions are responsible for developing architectures and the individual regions design/tune the vehicles for their regions.

The US is responsible for engineering and developing the trucks and fmaily cars. Although Toyota’s HQ is in Japan. Many of the vehicles they sell in the U.S is designed and primarily built in by Toyota, U.S.A.

GM’s billions of dollars spent on advertising is finally paying off… haha and ford will continue to fail as long as they keep producing one diamond covered turd in a sea of complete ****. chrysler is the only company taking risks and designing vehicles that stand out, not to mention the “daimler” in chrysler helps produce better transmissions, and with 5 and 6 speed automatics now standard on most chrysler products your going to need more power under the hood to keep up… which means better engines for all you ignorant morons who can’t seem to stop stroking GM’s and fords shlongs.

Ford is down with cars because the Fusion et al is their only hit.

500/Montego sales are not much and becoming less.
Focus is almost 10 year old tech, though sales are up a bit.

Really, look at that data sheet – Ford total cars are 43000 in November. Toyota moves that many Camry’s in a month – add in their other car sales, all of which leave Ford drooling, and you’ll see why Ford cars are down. I am a fan of Ford, but they are too reliant on trucks, and too unable to see that they need to bring some models from abroad (read MONDEO and FOCUS) to the USA to sell, and they can build them here too. GM is doing it with Saturn and is seeing the positive results. I’m all for inventing things here, but I’m not for reinventing the wheel, and the wheels Ford USA is reinventing are those from last century.
