GM OWNS 8 BRANDS. Ford owns 4. You cannot compare sales. Ford sells more then chevy. Ford sells more then GM. Ford does not sell more then Chevy and GM put together. Comparing 8 to 4 is no Comparisson. Its like having 5 players on a baseball team, vs 9. When the 9 player team wins, are you surprised????

Maybe, but again, you’re doing it wrong. If A=B=C, then A MUST = B in ALL situations. Need4SSpeed just pointed out a situation where A does not equal B, so logically, he proved your argument invalid. Validity is not Truth. It means that your argument cannot hold water because it is not equal in all situations.

It not invalid. If you combine sales from 8 companys and say the sales from 8 companys is 750,000. Compared to sales of 4 companys equaling 525,000. Logic says if Ford had 4 more brands there sales would surpass there competitor. Thanks though, you almost made sense

Actually, iHussie, Need4SSPeed makes a valid point with a good use of logic. Here’s the logic:

A (Brands) is proportional to B (Sales)

GM has more A, and therefore more B.

Ford has less A, and therefore less B.

But Toyota has less A, and MORE B.

Because with Toyota, A is NOT proportional to B, then your argument of More Brands means More Sales is an invalid argument.

“Need” The discussion was not on honda or toyota. So you should probably look into what your commenting on. He was telling me how Gm sold more then Ford. There is a sole reason, that reason being they own twice as many companys. If GM was cut to 5 or 4 companys there would be no comparisson. Ford would blow them out of the water. thanks, good day

hey ihustle so because GM owns more companies is the only reason why they are selling more than Ford??? Umm so tell me does Toyota and Honda also offer more companies than GM??? I don’t think so yet they are still outselling GM even… So that isn’t even a good reason why that’s the only reason GM is bigger or sells more cars than Ford…

I agree monte. My neighbor just disposed of his SW2 after 200k + kms and I swear he never did an oil change and the car would be in gear and rolling even on the coldest winter morning before the #3 cylinder had sparked. I also knew a lady with an SC2 who had really big boobs… er, issues with her Saturn but none were engine related. Actually I can’t honestly be sure about that other than she did have a Saturn. What were we talking about?

Buick lost status in the 80’s and 90’s making clone cars.
Saturn couldn’t make an engine stay together.

After decades people don’t want to drop $20-30 grand on a car that eats them alive after the warranty runs out.

mayer_ray_nagin, GM should sell Buick to Chinese company and do it pronto, while they ahead in China. The fact of the matter is that you can’t legally transfer funds out of China, only the value of your original investment. That leaves only one option for GM: buying Chinese made cars to sell outside of China. Lets face it: GM could not sell very well American, Japanese (Isuzu, Suzuki) and Korean cars, why Chinese would be different?

Don’t be so amerocentric, people: They wont sell Buick because it’s a hot brand in China, the largest hot market right now. If it’s not making money here they’d be better off letting it wither while making coin in Asia.

I can see dumping Saturn even though the vehicles are nice. Saturns just don’t offer good relative value at their sticker versus what other brands offer at transaction price. Saturn is basically dicked by its no-dicker-sticker.

Saab is irrelevant, and GMC sells okay. Still if I had to axe anything, it would be Saturn first and then GMC.

GM should ax GMC & Saturn.

GMC, because they don’t need another truck line, and those guys would just go to chevy for the same thing anyway. Plus they won’t have to close dealerships as GMC almost all dualed.

They should dump Saturn only because they really got away from the original idea of why the brand came about in the first place. “A different kind of car” is no more. As soon as they started offering rebates and got rid of the plastic panels they stopped being Saturn. And, less dealerships to pay off than any other division.

Pontiac should get all the euro/overseas stuff. And only the sportiest versions. I know Buick used to get Opels, but they really don’t fit the brand anymore. Buick should remain a semi-lux brand with traditional styling, luxury, and good quality. Pontiac more flashy/sporty/young. Dealerships would be dualed.

Just sell or close SAAB. They contribute nothing to GM that they don’t already have, sorry.

Another thing they really need to do is create more of a gap between brands in price/content/performance. When GM was at it’s best, it was a pretty big leap from a Chevy to a Buick and from Buick to Caddy. The original “ladder theory” if you will. You want fancy leather? Move up to Buick. You want RWD & Euro performance? Pontiac is your brand. You want ultimate luxury & power? Pony up for a Caddy. These days, you can outfit a Malibu just as nicely as a LaCrosse. Chevy is supposed to be simple, efficient, utilitarian, decent transportation.

I actualy sold 2 cars today. I new focus, and a used f-150. Actually off waiting on an apointment 5:30…. Awwwww thanks for the concern though Look at you always looking out for me hahahahaha.
