GM will announce its second quarter 2007 financial report tomorrow and many industry analysts are predicting a small profit for the automaker thanks to strong sales in emerging markets. But analysts are warning that even a second quarter profit for the General won’t be enough to instill widespread confidence.
Thomson One Analytics reports that GM will likely report earnings of $639 million, about $1.13 per share, for the quarter.
But not everything is bright: GM is seeing growth in every market but the United States, according to The Detroit Free Press. GM’s share of the U.S. market was 27.1 percent last June; it was 22 percent during the same period in ’07. Whether GM can sustain a significantly decreased workforce and manufacturing base in its most important market is the big question to analysts.
