Car and Driver only cares about “how fast”.

They don’t own the car and have to put up with trips to the dealer or out of warranty headaches from garbage.

Car and Driver is short sighted ownership of a car.

AMGoff, next time you’re in the Ocho Rios area, go online and visit http://www.hevansscent.com . That’s our home & family business… and the best ATV tour on the island. It’s about 45 minutes outside Ocho Rios, up in the hills. You can see the entire north coast from the ATV trail, but don’t take my word for it.

Well, I am on my third CTS and had an STS in between…although I didn’t like it as much. I will get a new CTS when my lease comes up in the spring and maybe if a few things go right, get a Saturn Sky Redline as a 2nd car for fun…

By the way, did you guys see the latest “Car and Driver” magazine?? They rated the best street cars for the track, divided them into price categories, etc… Guess what?? Solstice Turbo GXP won the inexpensive category, The standard Corvette with Z-51 package won the mid-priced category, (Beating the new Audi A8 and Porsche 911 GT3, which were in the higher price category and costly roughly TWICE AS MUCH)and the Corvette Z06 beat everything, everything…regardless of price. The Germans were there, the Japanese were there Ford was there… So stop your bitching and whining and start to show some intelligence and comprehension… Does GM make all the best cars in the world?? No, that would be a moronic statement…but they make some damn good cars and according to Car and Driver, in some areas, they make the superior cars.

Tis what I think of thou automobile companies…

GMC- The Acadia is a wonderful vehicle, a great improvement in refinement, looks, quality and performance than the model it replaces. The Sierra and Yukon models are also great improvements from the last generation…
On the other hand though, the Canyon, simple put, is xxxx, and so is it’s Chevrolet counterpart. The extended cab is creaky, and needs stiffening (even the Chevrolet dealer I spoke to admitted so). A colleague of mine is embarrased to admit to owning one- She condemns the vehicles interior, and “clanky-ness”

Pontiac- I have little to spare for Pontiac. The Solstice was a great product of design, although it looks like a buck-tooth beaver with liscence plates on it. The Pontiac G6 also seems to be getting good reviews. What else does Pontiac have that’s true to it’s name (in other words performance oriented)? Seriously, nothing. The Pontiac Firebird was probably one of the best *looking* products to stay true to the Pontiac name in 20 years.

Saturn- I praise the Aura and Outlook, they’re nice cars inside and out- the Sky is a nice car, but for what it is I don’t see the same enthusiasm as the Pontiac Solstice.

Saab- I cannot begin to stress the need to revamp the quality and interior of their cars. Jet inspired? Not really. I do praise Saab though for their performance and safety.

Chevrolet- Wonderful things are happening with Chevrolet. All their SUV’s with the exception of the Colorado have turned out very nice, inside and out. I believe their ahead of the competition- just see these vehicles for what they are!

Hummer- For what the H3 has turned out to be, I’m only slightly dissapointed. I hope to see Hummer come out with a diesel model possibly, currently it appeals mostly to rappers- not offroad enthusiasts like the original Hummer H1 did.

Cadillac- I love how work is coming out on the Cadillac CTS- it looks like a very promising vehicle. I’m not to sure about the XLR, but other than that Cadillacs lineup needs more enthusiasm, as an American luxury brand as a whole.

Buick- The Enclave looks good. That’s all I have to say that’s positive about Buick, I’ll just stop there.

All the recent models by GM have been really great. The remaining models from mid 2005 and past I regard as not as good as the new models, or the competition. They’ve made some fair strides though- They need to revamp ALL their models though, aside from a few…

jamaicandude… it comes down to the fact that a lot of people on here are ignorant ****s. It usually boils down to the fact that they bought a lemon back in ‘92 and swear that every vehicle from that company is ****. Every manufacturer makes lemons, every manufacturer has recalls. The worst part of it is that you have all of the import lovers with their heads up their asses hating all of detroit and then you have domestic buyer squabbling between themselves ford vs gm vs chrysler. I’m personally a Chrysler fan and I get sick and tired of hearing people constantly **** on ever Chrysler product knowing full well that they haven’t driven every model from every year. I’ve always owned Mopar and have honest to god, never had any problem with any of them beyond normal wear and tear. We also have one GM that’s my daily driver, we bought it because when we were in the market I was really unhappy with what the germans were doing to my beloved company. Either way, it’s a Buick Regal and it’s a fantastic car – three years of ownership and not single problem. I think there are some nice imports out there but they really don’t offer me anything more than a domestic make does, nor do they usually match the value of a domestic make. So why the hell wouldn’t I buy American? BTW… I love your country, we vacation just outside Ocho Rios every winter, I envy you, it’s a gorgeous place to live!

considering the cutbuck plans at cadillac and the complete confusion at pontiac and buick, it doesnt surprise me at all that the market share has slipped from 27 to 22 percent. buick is shot, pontiac, the brand which should be the easiest sell, is on the ropes, and cadillac cant sell big cars…….hard times seem to be on the horizon for the general….

As much as I hate GM, I agree with some that they’ve taken tremendous strides in design, especially the interiors. Still, 27 to 22% of the market is a massive loss. That’s a 20% relative drop in sales.

Its not entirely the American Autos fault they produce cars that tend to be considered crap. Look what they have to deal with, the unions. They have an unfair vantage, being forced to build more cars than they can sell, with huge inventories, forced to issue large incentives to buyers. The end result is a company who must find ways of cutting corners in production just to maintain profitability. If we took the unions away and leveled the playing field, im sure American auto companies could rebuild their reputation as excellent automobiles. I cant say they are all crap, because i have not driven many of these GM cars. I have noticed some large improvements in design and interior design, something GM has never been good at in the past. The sad truth is when you have friends who buy these cars and experience problems with them you cannot help but wonder.

Lets give GM some credit here for at least trying something and not making big promises with no results like Ford. I am not a fan of either company, but see that GM is making an effort to roll out some interesting product, across all of their lines. Cars like the new CTS, Enclave, Aura, Acadia, Saab (OK, well maybe not Saab) are all getting positive attention from the press and buyers. So bash away GM haters, but don’t blame the General for at least stepping up to the plate!

i love my silverado and for trucks/suvs/muscle cars i will almost always buy american. But for anything with 4-6 cylinders, or a luxury nameplate, i will almost always buy European.

CTS, there are people here that hate everything that they know nothing about. I just don’t understand how someone can bad mouth a car that they’ve never driven. And pulling away from a Corvette at a stoplight in a Civic, or vice versa (not the best example) doesn’t mean that a Civic is faster than a ‘Vette. A lot of people think that their experiences are the standard by which all vehicles should be judged, and that’s just plain dumb.
American vehicles aren’t my favorite, mainly because the steering is on the wrong side for where I live. That said, American vehicles… especially trucks and SUVs are extremely popular here. Naturally then, I tend to go for the Japanese and European brands. I went to college in the US for 5 years and drove nothing but American cars while I was there. I loved Mustangs and Camaros, and would kill for a ‘69 Mustang or ‘67 Camaro for a project car, but we have a restriction on imports older than 5 years old here. That’s why I tend to change vehicles a lot. I’ll test drive anything, and reserve judgment till afterwards.
Like I always say, you make your choice, because you’re entitled to. People like what they like. It’s stupid and childish to criticize people for their automotive preference, or to think your choice is superior just because it’s yours.

so there are a helluvalotta more haters with a complete bias then there are openminded individuals that make choices upon what the see and test drive.
