GM extends employee pricing through September, adds most ‘09 models

General Motors’ Employee Discount for Everyone promotion probably saved the General from seeing a 30+ percent sales drop off in August, and it looks as though the promotional event will also help to buoy September’s sales numbers.

The sales event kicked off on August 20th and was slated to end earlier this week, but GM has extended the sale through September 30th. Moreover, the even now included every 2008 model, as well as nearly every 2009 model.

The event has reportedly spiked showroom traffic and is really helping to clear out extra inventory — i.e. trucks and SUVs that have been languishing on deal lots. To check out deals in your area, click on this link.

This gesture by GM is meaningless and hollow unless it applies prospectively to the NEW CAMARO.

I’m more curious about if this strategy is working better- meaning creating more revenue- than if they had a loss of 30+%.

johnny- Still quite a few grand.

Also, I’m getting pretty sick of all the news being about finances. I’d really appreciate some news about the automobiles themselves, seeing how you guys have been working so diligently updating information on existing cars.

GM stokes the fire-sale embers once again, hoping for a genie to pop out of the brimstone.
Maybe they can run this until the Volt (Genie) comes out?
They, and the Yankees, need a Barabra Eden cameo in the worst way

Wonder if I can pick up my new Solstice Coupe under this deal despite my making dealer deposits already. This worked before for GM and it worked a second time.
